October 2016

Velvet, or velveteen, is a huge reoccurring trend that takes the fashion world by storm annually during the fall and winter months. I, personally, am a huge fan of the fabric and love the contrast it brings to different ensembles when paired with leather or denim. Please see below for a few of the velvet items that have caught my eye lately, and don’t forget to click the images to shop my picks!

If I were to create a look that embodied all of my favorite fall fashion trends, this would probably be it! I’ve been obsessed with navy for quite  a while now, and I don’t see my love for the shade fading any time soon. Especially for this time of year, ensembles that incorporate rich colors and tones always seem to stand out the most. Another hue that is constantly reoccurring in the colder months is burgundy. There’s something about the deep wine toned red that always seems to take over my closet in some form or another and this year, it came in the style of velvet boots! Now, velvet is a HUGE trend right now to say the least and being a lover of texture, I just couldn’t pass up on these shoes. I love darker colors because in some ways they can act as neutrals in that they can be paired with almost anything, and as soon as I purchased this off the shoulder top, I knew they would be perfect together! The dual textures in the shirt, mixed with the raw hem of my culotte jeans, and suede belt created an interesting 70’s style vibe that I truly hadn’t intended but absolutely loved! And as if I didn’t already have my fill of navy, I added my personalized, pebble grained leather, “Madison” crossbody bag that I also adore! All in all, this look was full of amazing textures, fall colors, and trends galore. So what’s not to love?! Until next time! 🙂

I’ve recently noticed a common factor in a few of my handbags…FRINGE. I’m not sure what it is about this textured detail that elevates any ensemble but the subtle movement it brings, I simply cannot resist. Whether it be in the style of a crossbody, backpack, or traditional purse, I am totally here for this trend! To be honest, this look was completely inspired by street style. I had been seeing so many trendy girls rocking midi-length floral dresses with leather jackets lately, I knew I had to add one to my collection. During the cooler months it’s easy to get stuck in the “pants-only” rut, so I decided to challenge myself and continue to style more feminine pieces for a bit longer. I’ve never been a fan of super bright florals so when I saw this pattern I was instantly attracted to the subdued neutral tones that were incorporated. Aside from that I was also drawn to the lace overlay and the eye catching cold-shoulder detail. All in all, this dress was everything I was looking for and I knew exactly how I wanted to style it! A few blog posts ago, I fell in love with the Stan Smith Adidas sneakers and since then I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of my own. While I didn’t end up getting that exact pair, I opted for the new “superstars” that are just as versatile and fit perfectly into my wardrobe. One color that I don’t typically accessorize with is grey, but I noticed hints of it in the dress and thought it would make for an interesting accent color to tie the look together. With that in mind, I finished the look off with my fringe crossbody bag and matching choker. This ensemble turned out to be everything I had imagined for the fall season and I can’t wait to style this dress again, maybe with some booties and a cute jacket. Who knows what I’ll come up with, but until next time!

Mesh & tulle fabrics have become quite popular in fashion recently. I personally love layering with them because they add an extra element of dimension and edge to any look, especially in the cooler months. I couldn’t be more excited to finally showcase my fall style! As this is my favorite season, I’ve spent months buying pieces that I knew I would become staples in my wardrobe and this jacket was definitely first on the list. I’ve been on the hunt for a brown leather jacket for sometime now, but the challenge for me was determining what shade I wanted to go with as I wanted it to be quite versatile yet still stand out against my complexion. I was lucky enough to find this one at a consignment shop and as soon as I tried it on, I knew it was the one! Another piece, and very popular trend in denim right now, has been the straight fit jean. In my opinion, it gives a very vintage and 90’s feel to any look while remaining cool and slightly more casual than the regular skinny fit. Even though these pieces were purchased weeks apart, (in my head) this outfit came together seamlessly. Mesh and tulle have also been quite popular recently, so to add a bit of edge to this look, I decided to layer with a sheer bodysuit. Finally, I finished the look off with my simple mule sandals, a belt-like choker necklace, and a red lip for a bit of pop! Basically every piece of this ensemble fits into a trend category that I am obsessed with. As we are now in a layering season, I love experimenting with different textures, color tones, and timeless pieces. So try it out and let the fall vibes be your guide! Until next time!
