The increased popularity of slip dresses over the last few years is something that I don’t see slowing down any time soon. What I personally love most about them, is the countless styling opportunities that truly make it a year-round staple. In my opinion, Summer is probably the easiest season to style them because there is really no need for layering. However that being said, because these frocks are such simple and dainty pieces, it can take a little more thought to cultivate an ensemble that still has some type of dimension and interest. My slip dress collection has continued to grow with each season, and it should be no surprise that the black version is definitely my most worn. In efforts to add a bit more variety and fill a void in my wardrobe, I jumped at the opportunity to be gifted a cream-colored style which had recently caught my eye. Upon receiving, I was thrilled with the quality and determined to play off of the feminine details, while adding pieces that would provide an unexpected juxtaposition. I had also recently purchased my first pair of colorful sneakers, (every other pair I own are either black and/or white) and was anxious to style them ASAP! Because I was essentially working with a blank canvas, this was the perfect opportunity to add a street-style flare to such a delicate garment. Additionally, for a bit more structure, I thought it would be cool to throw on an over-sized blazer which helped balance the look overall. For accessories, minimal silver jewelry and my geometric frames helped tie everything together and complete my vision. This honestly may be one of my favorite Summer looks to date due to all of the elements and style genres that were combined to create this outfit. So long are the days of wearing garments for one singular purpose! In my personal experience, especially while growing up, cardigans were always meant for layering when the temperature of the destination was uncertain. Lately however, I’ve noticed these knits gaining more respect and moving from the typical “add-on” piece to one of the focal items in various ensembles. Below I’ve rounded up a few options that I could absolutely see myself styling currently and during the upcoming seasons. One of my favorite things about fashion is the constant reinvention and recycling of trends from the past. With every year, there seems to be a decade piece that really dominates and though we are still quarantined, 2020 has been no exception. With regards to clothing, I would definitely say that this has been the year of the cardigan. Whether you’re drawing styling inspiration from the 60’s or the 90’s, this garment has proven to be a timeless staple that anyone can rock! I was surprised at how influenced I was to reintroduce this piece to my wardrobe, but after coming across this beautiful lilac cable knit with embellished buttons, I couldn’t resist! Because it was so feminine and unlike any item I currently own, I was on a mission to make it fit my personal aesthetic. I decided to wear the cardigan as a top instead of a layering piece, and only buttoned the first fastening to keep it more Summer appropriate. In efforts to add a bit more edge, I threw on a pair of distressed straight-legged jeans and strappy black mules. Accessories were also imperative in finalizing this look, so I continued to play off of the pastel color palette by adding a pale blue bucket bag. Lastly, I added my clear 2000’s inspired sunglasses and my ensemble was complete! Comment below your favorite part of this outfit and whether you’d be interested in giving the cardigan trend a try. Until next time!

Specifically with regards to footwear, I’ve seen both luxury and high street retailers produce a version of a heeled sandal in this similar hue. There’s something about a lightweight suit in the Summer that truly makes you feel empowered, strong, chic, and ready for just about anything. What I love most about this look is the casualness that comes with such a traditionally structured garment. We often associate suits with the office, business, or formal events. Yet in the warmer months, they become a bit more carefree and a much “cooler” version of what we expect them to be. When I first came across this set, I was drawn in by the bold pattern, as well as the overall color scheme. At first glance, this may look like your average neutral checked suit; however after close inspection, there are fine lines of blue piping throughout which really make this set even more special. As a lover of contrast who also appreciates a good pop of color, it was a no-brainer for me to immediately pair this co-ord with my newest heeled sandals in a bright sapphire shade as well. In efforts to not overly saturate the ensemble, I toned things down with a knit grey crop-top for some added balance. To finish off the look, I threw on a large pair of gold framed sunnies and was on my way! This is yet another example of how versatile garments can be; so do yourself a favor and step out of the box! Just because something is labeled as being meant for a conference, doesn’t mean you can’t rock it to the park! Until next time!

I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself a “dress-girl,” and the times I do wear them they tend to almost always have some sort of structure. That said, the A-line or more voluminous “baby-doll” style trend has really seemed to thrive this season in the world of fashion; so much so that even I had to give it a try. Check out a few of the frocks I have rounded up below and don’t forget to click the images for direct links to shop! Until next time!

*Cues Music* It’s been a long time, I shouldn’t have left you…

In all seriousness though, with everything going on in our country and across the globe, I was left feeling extremely uninspired and unmotivated to shoot my usual content. That being said, I am finally ready to get back into the swing of things and showcase some of the pieces I have purchased during this new quarantined reality. Baby-doll dresses are not something I usually gravitate towards as, due to their shapeless silhouette, they can sometimes make you appear larger than you actually are. To my surprise however, I was greatly intrigued by this neutral colored frock and decided to give it a try. (HINT: Because these dresses are so voluminous you can almost always size down!) Upon receiving the garment, I was instantly sold! The effortless design gave it all of the qualities of the perfect Summer styling piece; chic, casual, and comfortable! I was also free to accessorize however I liked because of the muted color. For footwear, I chose to add my my chunky flatform sandals to the ensemble and my tri-colored cross-body bag featuring gold hardware. In efforts to tie everything together, I finalized the look with an elevated aviator style of sunnies and was ready for a picnic or curbside dining at one of my favorite restaurants. While I’m sure we are all still getting adjusted to the new ways of the world, it does feel good to get back to my passion. Stay tuned for more content on the way, and until next time!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pantene. All opinions are 100% mine.

When I was contacted by the Pantene team to try another one of their latest collections, I jumped at the opportunity! What I love most about the brand is that there always seems to be a well thought out message behind each of the products and their launches. This time, I was challenged to shut out the outside world and use my time trying these products as an opportunity for self care, reflection, and discovery. Honestly speaking, this couldn’t have come at a more perfect moment as now more than ever with everything going on in the world, the majority of our time is being spent at home. On the bright side, this allows for the ability to catch up on rest, read, finally organize my space in ways that I never had time to before, and most importantly, more frequent wash days! For the most part, I generally look forward to and take the most advantage of “self-care Sundays.” This is a designated time that I know for a fact, I can spend tending to my personal needs and preparing myself for the week ahead. I usually start out with cleaning my apartment to my favorite soundtrack of the moment, that way, my space is clean and I can then focus all of my attention on ME!

When it comes to my specific hair needs, I tend to gravitate towards moisture retention products the most. While I barely put heat on my hair, I do use tons of gel on a regular basis to create my sleek signature bun. Because of this, and how dry my routine can make my scalp, I knew that the Miracle Moisture Boost shampoo and conditioner with Rose Water would be the line for me! Aside from the heavenly scent, I found it fascinating that the rose water infused in the products actually came from the petals and buds of rosa gallica that thrive in the Middle East. These nourishing formulas also come free of sulfates and parabens, which are rich in the skin-hydrating Vitamins B5 & B3. After using these products my hair and scalp feel clean, without being stripped. Regarding the conditioner specifically, it leaves my strands feeling soft and my curls looking incredibly full and healthy. Over the years I’ve definitely noticed an increase in popularity when it comes to the benefits of rose water in both hair and skincare products. This is why it was no surprise to find out that women in regions such as Morrocco continue to use these types of natural ingredients in their beauty regimens to get ahead and deliver relief from the dry climates.

During this time of solitude and “social distancing,” it truly is in the moments of self-care that we can begin to reflect on ourselves, how we treat each other, and our planet. Appreciating the beauty of just being able to freely take a walk outside and enjoy the fresh air is something that I’ve definitely taken for granted. We’ve just moved into Spring and oddly enough don’t have a date on when we’ll be able to go out and appreciate the blue skies, calm waves, or freshly bloomed flowers. That being said, I am confident in knowing that once we are able to resume life as it once was, I’ll be able to take it on with a restored outlook and refreshed hair thanks to the Pantene Nutrient Blends collection!
