By default, this post holds a special place in my heart for the mere fact that it is centered around one of my favorite colors. I am personally obsessed with the intensity and strength that the color red gives off, so I had no hesitation about making sure that every location had some distinct red elements. I just love how the red scenery really brings out the stripes in the dress as well as the fieriness of the jacket. Because this look emphasized such a vibrant color, I tried to keep the rest of my accessories subtle yet interesting by pairing the dress with black gladiator sandals and a leather 5-panel cap. I think when styling an outfit with a “loud” focal point, it is important to keep the accessories minimal and eye-catching without losing the focus of the ensemble. One way to do this is by playing with different textures and fabrics. As with all of my looks, I think it’s important to take risks and push the envelope. So take the challenge! Style a look using a bright color and see how you like it. 🙂

To be completely honest, comfort is not always a priority to me when getting dressed. On the off chance I do find myself comfortable throughout the day, I tend to take notice; this happened to be one of those days. At one time, the idea of denim overalls only provoked thoughts of mechanics and life on the farm, however, like most trends, the fashion world found a way to make them stylish. While they can be dressed up, I prefer to rock them on my most casual of days. Due to the beautiful weather we have be experiencing lately, I figured throwing on a mesh top underneath would be a nice way to show a little skin and add a grungy vibe to the look. Once deciding to make white my accent color, I followed suit with my sandals and clutch then added dark plum lip to offset the brightness. I also experimented with my short vagabond booties and they worked quite nicely, without disturbing the essence of the ensemble. I think overalls are another great transition piece when moving from fall to the warmer spring months. Show me how you rock yours!

I think by now we all know some of the staple trends that begin to arise as soon as it gets warmer; brighter colors, floral patterns, lighter fabrics, etc. In my opinion though, the pastel trend is one of the best! Without appearing too obviously bright, I feel that the color palette gives a sort of subtle chicness while still remaining eye-catching, trendy, and weather appropriate. The soft pinks, peaches, nudes, and blush tones in this look really pulled together in a way that just screams, “SPRING IS HERE!” Though I am also a huge lover of joggers, I decided to switch it up and go for a wide-leg trouser silhouette which I feel was perfect for showcasing a more sophisticated look and work as a nice contrast against the fitted crop top. Also, I think the light pink leather jacket was essential for maintaining a little bit of edge while adding some structure to the look as well. So tell me, what is your favorite spring trend?

I haven’t been obsessed with an item of clothing in a long time, but I have literally been wearing this Adidas track jacket since the day I received it in the mail! I just love how, though it is such a casual piece, it can make any ensemble eye-catching and edgy. This jacket is so versatile it can go from a trip to the gym to a night out on the town. It is also the perfect piece of outerwear for the spring and summer months, espcially during those cooler nights. For this shoot, I decided to throw it over a simple ribbed, racer-back midi dress to add some personality to the look. The giant text on the back is a definite showstopper and when paired with heels can easily elevate your look to sporty chic. Being that it is black, it can typically be worn with everything and almost everywhere. Long story short, I will be rocking this jacket until it falls apart lol. We all have those special pieces in our closets, right?

As the days become longer and the temperatures increase, I realize that I am coming upon the final days of being able to enjoy my outerwear. Luckily this moderate, 50 degree day was absolutely perfect for getting some use out of this striped duster coat I recently purchased. (TIP: If you are searching for items that have sold out on Topshop’s website, check Nordstrom for they also have a Topshop section.) We took to Central Park this time and had a blast. Believe it or not this was my first time actually taking time to walk through the park, and it was beautiful! There were so many interesting paths and places to shoot that really added to the composition of the photos. To give some variety, as I have in the past, I styled the look with both flats and heels. In my opinion, it is definitely a HUGE misconception that flats cannot be fashionable; though I am a heel lover at heart. 😉

Jumpsuits have probably become one of my favorite fashion pieces. Why you may ask? It’s simple (literally)! They require little to no effort or thought, you can dress them up or down, and you can go about your day feeling comfortable while looking chic. Jumpsuits have to be one of the most versatile items in fashion. I mean what’s not to love?! It’s a full outfit in one and works perfectly on those days when you can’t decide on what to wear or simply want to go for that effortless, “I woke up like this” type of look. With the right accessories and a stylish shoe your look will be complete in a matter of minutes. In my opinion, this is a staple piece every fashionista should own.

I decided to go with a more formal look this time around and it seemed only fitting that we take to Wall Street to shoot it. Though it was a little difficult posing and maneuvering on the brick road in my heels, it was definitely fun floating around in this tan midi length skirt. The subtle snake print in the lace top and the dramatic pleats definitely made this look for me. I felt so chic and classy! I also thought it would be a nice touch to separate the two statement pieces with a gold plated belt which served as an eye-catching accessory as well. While I tend to dress more casually on a day to day basis, this was a nice change for me and it made me want to experiment with more dressy pieces.

It brings me great joy to say that this is the first shoot I’ve done since I’ve started my blog that didn’t involve me complaining about being cold lol. We actually shot this on two separate days, first in the lower east side then in midtown, and both were sunny, warm, and beautiful! Though I am still working on my gym routine, I was delighted to show a little midriff with this furry cropped sweater. I pretty much built this ensemble around the “care bear-esque” looking piece and ended up with a look that was somewhat on the icy side. I loved how the different washes of denim and the baby blue top came together to form a monochrome inspired outfit, without being too matchy.

Have you ever seen a bear and a leopard coexisting in the same environment? Neither have I, but luckily fashion doesn’t abide by the rules of national geographic. This “woodsy” shoot was actually done in a park not too far from my apartment. I figured the warm, neutral tones and textures in my outfit would really pop against the landscape. Aside from the swarming gnats, I really enjoyed this shoot. It brought me back to my childhood when I once dreamed of being a biologist and having my own television show finding new species of animals in the wilderness. That was short lived though, as my love for shoes continued to grow and I realized in order to deal with animals I would actually have to interact with nature lol.

DSC_0250Let me first start off by being honest. I am ashamed to say that this beautiful suit has remained in my closet, unworn, since October of last year. I don’t know how I let this happen! Though I am slightly disappointed in myself for letting fall and winter pass me by without styling this outfit, I figured Easter Sunday was the perfect excuse to debut this gem. Since it is technically a fall suit, I decided to lighten it up and make it more spring appropriate by pairing it with some rose gold, open toed, strappy sandals instead of a classic black pump. I felt so chic in this ensemble and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect! I’m already anticipating rummaging through my closet again to see what other amazing unworn pieces I have tucked away waiting to be styled.
