As the days become longer and the temperatures increase, I realize that I am coming upon the final days of being able to enjoy my outerwear. Luckily this moderate, 50 degree day was absolutely perfect for getting some use out of this striped duster coat I recently purchased. (TIP: If you are searching for items that have sold out on Topshop’s website, check Nordstrom for they also have a Topshop section.) We took to Central Park this time and had a blast. Believe it or not this was my first time actually taking time to walk through the park, and it was beautiful! There were so many interesting paths and places to shoot that really added to the composition of the photos. To give some variety, as I have in the past, I styled the look with both flats and heels. In my opinion, it is definitely a HUGE misconception that flats cannot be fashionable; though I am a heel lover at heart. 😉

Jumpsuits have probably become one of my favorite fashion pieces. Why you may ask? It’s simple (literally)! They require little to no effort or thought, you can dress them up or down, and you can go about your day feeling comfortable while looking chic. Jumpsuits have to be one of the most versatile items in fashion. I mean what’s not to love?! It’s a full outfit in one and works perfectly on those days when you can’t decide on what to wear or simply want to go for that effortless, “I woke up like this” type of look. With the right accessories and a stylish shoe your look will be complete in a matter of minutes. In my opinion, this is a staple piece every fashionista should own.

I decided to go with a more formal look this time around and it seemed only fitting that we take to Wall Street to shoot it. Though it was a little difficult posing and maneuvering on the brick road in my heels, it was definitely fun floating around in this tan midi length skirt. The subtle snake print in the lace top and the dramatic pleats definitely made this look for me. I felt so chic and classy! I also thought it would be a nice touch to separate the two statement pieces with a gold plated belt which served as an eye-catching accessory as well. While I tend to dress more casually on a day to day basis, this was a nice change for me and it made me want to experiment with more dressy pieces.

It brings me great joy to say that this is the first shoot I’ve done since I’ve started my blog that didn’t involve me complaining about being cold lol. We actually shot this on two separate days, first in the lower east side then in midtown, and both were sunny, warm, and beautiful! Though I am still working on my gym routine, I was delighted to show a little midriff with this furry cropped sweater. I pretty much built this ensemble around the “care bear-esque” looking piece and ended up with a look that was somewhat on the icy side. I loved how the different washes of denim and the baby blue top came together to form a monochrome inspired outfit, without being too matchy.

Have you ever seen a bear and a leopard coexisting in the same environment? Neither have I, but luckily fashion doesn’t abide by the rules of national geographic. This “woodsy” shoot was actually done in a park not too far from my apartment. I figured the warm, neutral tones and textures in my outfit would really pop against the landscape. Aside from the swarming gnats, I really enjoyed this shoot. It brought me back to my childhood when I once dreamed of being a biologist and having my own television show finding new species of animals in the wilderness. That was short lived though, as my love for shoes continued to grow and I realized in order to deal with animals I would actually have to interact with nature lol.

DSC_0250Let me first start off by being honest. I am ashamed to say that this beautiful suit has remained in my closet, unworn, since October of last year. I don’t know how I let this happen! Though I am slightly disappointed in myself for letting fall and winter pass me by without styling this outfit, I figured Easter Sunday was the perfect excuse to debut this gem. Since it is technically a fall suit, I decided to lighten it up and make it more spring appropriate by pairing it with some rose gold, open toed, strappy sandals instead of a classic black pump. I felt so chic in this ensemble and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect! I’m already anticipating rummaging through my closet again to see what other amazing unworn pieces I have tucked away waiting to be styled.

Though I am a fan of the “winter white” trend, I also love to celebrate the entrance into warmer months by breaking out my crisp white pieces. I recently purchased this textured white blazer and thought it would be the perfect piece to make a statement paired with this overall fairly simple outfit. I loved how this piece made the text really pop on my shirt, but I couldn’t just stop there. I decided to add a little extra edge and texture by throwing on my white leather converses for a part of the shoot. Needless to say I am extremely excited for the warm weather ahead of us and can’t wait to put together some new outfits, sans the heavy outerwear.

I really don’t think there is any greater feeling than waking up on a Saturday morning (or afternoon lol) after a long week of work and realizing that you have no set schedule or obligations except for the ones you have put in place for yourself. That feeling where time finally slows down and you have the choice to either get up and run around the city or lay in bed until you get hungry enough to get up. That is the feeling I wanted to dedicate this outfit to. A comfortable and casual ensemble that works whether I am out and about catching up on errands or sitting at home binge watching movies or reading an inspiring novel. With everything we have going on in our lives, let’s not forget to relish in these relaxing moments and make the most of them…stylishly of course. 😉

One of the things I try to maintain whenever I style an outfit is to always have an element of contrast. Whether it be textures, silhouettes, or overall style I love to mix up the pieces in my closet to create interesting outfits with character. I believe that doing this keeps me inspired and unafraid to take risks with fashion. This is the exact mindset that sparked this outfit. I thought it would be cool to pair a fitted, tailored sweater with loose and extremely distressed jeans, and then take the contrasting even further by slapping on a pair of heels. I wanted this look to appear effortless and casual while still maintaining an edgy and fashionable vibe, hence the fur trimmed jacket. I think this look contains a lot of statement pieces that definitely stand well on their own but at the same time can be paired together and not look too over the top. This is why I love fashion! There are so many opportunities to take risks and be creative and I encourage everyone to open their closets and explore! Put together 2 pieces that are so drastically different and see how it looks; you never know you could be on to something.

The main idea behind this outfit was minimalism. I wanted to play with neutrals and focus on clean lines and simple pieces. The fact that it was a little cloudy this day actually worked in my favor because it allowed for the clothes to stand out against my overall grey surroundings. I liked that each photo had little to nothing going on in the background and you could really see the juxtaposition of empty space and a single figure. I don’t have too much to say about this post, but I guess that works in this case.
