Once you go black……….well, you know how it goes. LOL. In all seriousness though, I don’t think there is a more classic, staple, and ever forgiving shade than the darkest of them all. Whether you are struggling to style an outfit of the day, or simply want to have an edgy goth moment, one can never go wrong with an all black ensemble. While I am fully aware that we are in the heat of the summer months (no pun intended), that doesn’t mean I can’t bring it back to the basics; right?! While bright colors, florals, and other trends are known to be go-tos for the summer, an all black ensemble is something that I personally believe never fails to work for any occasion all year round. I recently purchased these black pleated culottes, and instantly knew that they would be a piece I would feature. The movement and chic detail they provide to a variety of outfits, whether for work or running around the city, has already allowed me to get my money’s worth. To contrast with the loose fabric, I decided to pair the trousers with a lace bralet I’ve had for a few years now. Pleats and lace are two textures that I find myself pairing together quite often, and I still have yet to be disappointed in the outcome! In order to give a sophisticated suit-like effect, I threw on my longline blazer as an extra layer to provide more dimension and cohesiveness to the ensemble. I finished off the look with my black minimal heeled sandals and my Prada sunnies that beautifully complimented the neutral color scheme of this look. All in all, you can never go wrong with all black in my book, but tell me what you think! Do you dare to wear dark, or do you prefer to stick with the usual trends? Until next time!

The color “red” has really made a vibrant statement in fashion this season. While it is one of my favorite colors, I never really found myself experimenting with it in my personal wardrobe until recently. To me, red is such a confident and bold shade and I love that it brings that energy to any ensemble or individual daring enough to rock it. Below are some of the pieces that have caught my eye. Happy shopping! (Don’t forget to click the images for direct links to shop the items!)

What initially drew me to this jumpsuit was by far the vibrant tomato color. I’ve seen this hue quite frequently this season and while I try not to make a habit of letting trends dictate my wardrobe, I don’t mind playing into them if I find a piece that I genuinely love. This tailored showstopper is so eye-catching that minimal accessories are all that is needed. From the illusion layering to the peek-a-boo cross back, I couldn’t have been happier with this garment. It’s rare that you find a piece with so many elements that still work together uniformly, without overpowering the item. I chose nude as my accessory color, since I didn’t want to style anything that would take  away from the seamless flow of the ensemble. My love for jumpsuits is continuing to grow, almost as rapidly as my collection itself. I mean seriously, what other piece of clothing can bring sophistication, chic-ness, comfort, and ease all in one look? You can’t beat it, nor should you try! Until next time! 🙂

In actuality, the only piece of this outfit that is from a thrift store is my hat but I love it so much that I felt like it deserved its own title lol. I had been on the hunt for a Nike “dad cap” for a few months and found that every time I came across one I liked,  it was either sold out or just plain over priced. My good friend happened to mention checking a thrift shop– I usually tend to stay away from them due to my lack of patience but on this particular day I just decided to go for it. To make a long story short, we went in and after a solid 5 minutes of perusing the store, there it was (and for a mere $3 at that!). It was truly my lucky day and it has become my new wardrobe staple since the day I purchased it. While I was originally on the hunt for a black one, I’ve found that the taupe actually suits me better as it adds a touch of contrast while still remaining neutral. It also makes me feel super cool and “effortless” when I throw it on with a variety of looks. I’ve had all of the items in this look for at least a year now and they still do not disappoint! I like this look because it even though all of the pieces are pretty simple, they work together to create a chic ensemble that can certainly go from day to night.

The halter neck is a style that I have recently grown to love and find quite flattering. It is a very elegant cut that is known for accentuating the collar bone, neck, and shoulders while also adding a touch of femininity to any look. I have seen this detail on basically every garment imaginable and I am all for it! I have gathered a few pieces below that have caught my eye. Happy shopping! I’m a huge fan of monochrome looks so when thinking of ensembles to style I kept that in mind. I also wanted to put together something chic and elegant while still being perfect for summer. In the end, I settled on this head to toe silvery-white look completed with iridescent heels and my chain link purse. I’ve had these trousers for almost two years now and still love them just as I did when I purchased them in London for my 22nd birthday. While I styled them with a black beaded top for my big day, I decided this time to pair them with a layered halter neck top. I’ve found that tops like these are quite flattering on my shape and this recent addition has quickly become a new favorite. This top was also perfect because it subtly brought out the metallic piping on the outer seams of the pants. Though this look is sophisticated, it can be worn to many different events; my favorite being brunch! So that about sums it up for this look, I hope you like it. Until next time!

The metallic trend has really taken off this year and become a staple with many differnt retailers. While it is most common for metallics to be used when referencing jewelry and other accessories, it is now becoming more common in the form of tops, dresses, outerwear, bottoms, and anything else you can imagine! I am personally a huge fan as it adds a bit of glam to even the most casual of looks. Below are some of the pieces that have really stuck out to me lately. (Don’t forget to click the images to shop my picks, which are now all on SALE!) Happy shopping!

Metallics for summer have become increasingly popular this year. I love that they add a bit of glam to any look while still remaining neutral enough to go with almost anything. As a known lover of contrast, I knew right away that I would be styling this dainty midi dress with sneakers. I’ve found at times when styling looks in a cohesive direction, they can sometimes appear too formal or overdone. In my opinion, adding an element that goes against the grain of the ensemble always ends up creating a much more interesting and cool vibe. To add an extra layer of casual, I threw on one of my favorite jackets by Adidas. I showcased this piece on the blog for the first time last year and raved about it; to me, it’s no surprise  that my feelings have not changed one bit! It still adds just the right amount of sporty edge and it’s a piece that I’m sure will remain a staple in my closet for many seasons to come. Because the dress was so “glitzy” I didn’t feel the need to accessorize much, but I added a simple gold choker just to tie everything together. I am a huge fan of looks that mesh together different styles like girly and sporty and this outfit did just that! So how do you like metallic trend? Are you a fan of the summer sun hitting these sparkly pieces, or do you prefer to save the glitz and glam for NYE? Either way, let me know in the comments below. Until next time!!

Hands down, this shoot has easily become my new favorite! I loved everything about it from the outfit itself, to the location, even the weather was perfect! As usual, I wanted to construct a look using simple pieces that contained eye-catching, stand out elements and I think I successfully achieved just that! In my opinion, this outfit pretty much consisted of what I would consider the basic “closet essentials.” Because the bag was the busiest piece with all of the patchwork details, I decided to pair it with a crisp white button up and a distressed denim pencil skirt. This shirt is probably one of the most interesting tops in my closet and it fully encompasses the true meaning of “business in the front, party in the back.” Over the last few spring and summer seasons, denim skirts have also made quite the comeback and this silhouette happens to be my personal fave. I kept the footwear pretty minimal as well with my single strap mules, another closet staple. When building up your wardrobe, it is important to at least begin with foundational pieces that can easily translate into different looks and can be worn across two or more seasons. Lately, I have also noticed quirkier pieces making their way into fashion, so when I saw this bag I knew it would be the perfect accessory to add a cool pop to any ensemble. I had a lot of fun with this shoot and I hope you guys enjoy this post. Until next time!
