The easiest way to break up an entirely neutral or monochrome look would be the pairing of a variety of textures. I tend to rely on this rule most heavily during he cooler months as the color palettes begin to get darker, and it can be trickier to have your wardrobe essentials stand out. Because I knew I was dealing with only two colors for this entire outfit, brown and black, I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to test out this theory! I bought this coat recently during one of the huge end of Summer sales and instantly knew it was a statement piece I’d get my cost per wear out of this season, and many more to come. Snake-print is another trend that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, so I was more than happy to add this beauty to my closet. Knowing this would be the focal piece, I wanted to find a way to layer other garments under it that were understated enough not to clash, but also eye-catching. After a bit more browsing online and through my own collection, I finally put it together! I chose a sheer, black checkered top and a mini skirt which proved to be the most perfect combination. The pieces were simple yet edgy and though they may have come off a bit risque on their own, under the bold trench, they were every bit of chic! For the first time this season, I also pulled out my favorite croc embossed black booties. These tied the look together and kept the ensemble streamlined while still adding height and balance against the more revealing pieces. Lastly, I finished off the look with my brown gradient aviator frames and a few gold rings. Personally, I feel like this outfit is my most accurate portrayal of transitional Fall dressing and I’m excited to see how my style evolves from here. Don’t forget to comment below your favorite piece and until next time!

Every now and then I stumble across a garment that is so obvious yet innovative at the same time, it completely baffles me! During my weekly web searches, never did I imagine that I would be so intrigued by a fraction of a sweater, I never knew I needed. Truthfully, the only initial thought that came to mind was, “GENIUS!” As influencers and style enthusiasts, we are constantly recommending trends, fashion hacks, and ways to get the most out of the items in our closets. That said, with a new transitional season right around the corner, pieces like this are the perfect way to bridge the gap between Summer and Fall staples. I chose to pair this knit with a ribbed crop top as we are still experiencing fairly warm temperatures, however this piece could also compliment a variety of sleeveless items such as dresses, jumpsuits, or even t-shirts. Since I was working with such a stark contrast, I chose to keep the bottom half of my look pretty simple with a pair of mid-washed denim bermuda shorts. For some this style may not appear to be the most flattering, and though I haven’t owned any in years, I was quite pleased with how chic they looked when styled with a stappy heeled sandal. Since each piece brought so much character to the overall ensemble, I didn’t even bother carrying a bag but instead opted for cat-eye sunnies featuring a light tortoise print and gold jewelry. It may be too early to say, but I do believe that this look could be in the running for my favorite of 2020! The juxtaposition of edgy and feminine, combined with the comfort of the garments, and coolness of the accessories checked all of the boxes that ultimately embody my personal style as a whole. So long are the days of wearing garments for one singular purpose! Below I’ve rounded up a few options that I could absolutely see myself styling currently and during the upcoming seasons. There are a few trends when it comes to fashion that I am considerably particular about, and animal prints are definitely at the top of that list. While I do often view these patterns as what some would call an “elevated neutral,” I still think that there are ways to wear them that can be more flattering than others. Personally, especially when it comes to the leopard motif, I tend to steer clear of variations that are very warm-toned with strong underlying hues of yellow and orange. Ideally, the styles that stick out to me the most are more on the taupe side in color, with abstract looking shapes that make up the design. When I initially saw this frock, I was drawn to it however, I wasn’t sure if it was too early in the year for such a bold garment. Moments later after deciding to purchase it, I concluded that my styling strategy would be to tone the dress down with dark, more winter appropriate accessories. To truly ground this look and simultaneously add a bit of contrast, I chose to add a black and tan pair of snow boots as well as my Nike socks for a sporty/casual flare. I’ve had these shoes for a about a year and absolutely love how warm and durable they are, even on the coldest of days. Though the ensemble was nearly complete, I knew I still had a few more pieces to add that would really pull my vision together. Though the major selling points for me, with regard to this dress, was the neckline and fit, I wanted to accentuate the silhouette even further by adding a thick black belt which in turn also broke up the print in a chic way. To finish off the ensemble while adding a few more 90’s inspired pieces; my nylon mini bag, mixed metal earrings, and dark frames were the perfect elements needed to seamlessly take this outfit to the next level.  Comment below your thoughts on this look and if you are a fan of animal prints during the Winter months, or if you prefer to reserve them for warmer climates. Until next time!
