Another year has gone by and it truly has been a whirlwind! With all of ups and downs 2017 brought, I can honestly say the amount of growth I’ve experienced in my personal and professional life has left me with a sense of accomplishment I can only help but feel optimistic about. Though no year is ever perfect, staying humble, focused, consistent, and positive are all I can do to ensure the good outweighs the bad. Surprisingly, I may actually be staying in this NYE however that doesn’t mean I don’t have several outfits planned for any last minute events. While I’m usually all about the glitz during this holiday, this year I decided to take a slightly more understated approach and traded my sequins for velvet. This cranberry colored jumpsuit was absolutely perfect for the vibe I was feeling for this New Year’s Eve: comfortable, sexy, yet classy. This piece is also very practical as I was definitely not too keen on the idea of facing these frigid New York temperatures with bare legs. Jumpsuits will always remain a closet staple for me because of how low maintenance they are. They also take the stress out of finding multiple items to coordinate together and allow the focus to remain on statement accessories. Because I still wanted to include a bit of festive sparkle to the look, I chose a pair of rose gold heeled sandals with diamante accents to add an element of glam. To match my footwear, I also incorporated some dainty rose gold studs which I thought added a nice elegant detail. Lastly, to finish off the look, no NYE outfit would be complete in my opinion without a faux fur! I’ve had this particular one for a few years now and it still brings that “sophisticated drama” that I love, whenever I wear it. I really can’t believe that this will be my last post of 2017 and what an amazing year of outfits it’s been! Whether you’ve been following my blog from the beginning or just recently, your support is greatly appreciated and I vow to continue to provide style inspiration and helpful tips well into the new year and if all goes as planned, many more to come! Cheers to 2018 and year 3 of ASM! Stay safe tonight, and see you next year! <3

Checked outerwear has become a huge staple for elevating ensembles especially during the Fall/Winter months. With such a wide variety of prints to choose from, anyone can rock this style and take on the smart and polished look with ease. Below I’ve rounded up some of the blazers that have recently caught my eye. Comment below if  you’re fan of this trend and don’t forget to click the images to shop my picks. Until next time!

The blazer/menswear trend has been extremely popular over the last few years. This year however, it seems to have taken on an even bigger presence with various prints: specifically checkered, plaid, and “Prince of Wales.” Being an individual who can appreciate a sleek and tailored look, I knew it was only a matter of time before I would eventually incorporate this trend into my wardrobe. Because there is such a wide variety of retailers selling this popular outerwear piece, I wanted to make sure that I took my time and purchased a blazer that was the perfect tone, print, and style for me. In the midst of my search, and without any real intention, I ended up buying other items that are extremely high on the must-have list for Fall/Winter. Last year, I bought a red vinyl mini skirt and while it is definitely a statement piece on it’s own, I didn’t feel the need to go overboard and stock up on a bunch of PVC items. On a recent shopping trip however, this pair of black pants really caught my eye and after trying them on, I knew they’d be a great closet addition. What really drew me in was the high-waist fit and contrast white stitching that added an interesting element I’m not used to seeing very often. Because the trousers were so bold and gave an 80’s rock feel, I decided to stick with the theme and pair them with a  simple slogan tee. In the end to complete the ensemble,  I settled on a long-line checked blazer that consisted of warmer tones and gold hardware. To bump up the chic factor, I decided to throw on an old pair of gold-capped pumps that really tied everything together. Overall, I loved the look but still felt like something was missing especially since I opted out of carrying a bag. Luckily, I had just received my new glasses and this was the perfect look to showcase them! The tortoise print of the frames added a “smart” factor to the outfit as a whole, without taking away from any of the more casual and edgy pieces. The way everything came together so seamlessly, definitely made this look a favorite and hopefully one you guys enjoyed as well! Until next time!

“Tis’ the season to be jolly… ” and that, I most certainly am! The warmth and joy that this time of year brings, is honestly something I don’t think I’ll ever stop being excited for! Given the fact that Christmas is literally days away, I knew I wanted to style a look that was festive but I didn’t have any specific pieces in mind. After a pretty hectic shopping trip around the city, I had a decent haul of items that unfortunately could be paired in so many different combinations I was left with quite the dilemma. My initial thought was to pair the glittery bronze midi dress with a blazer, but the tones ended up being a bit too similar and it left the ensemble feeling quite dull. After getting the pieces home and clearing my head, I remembered that I had recently purchased  a red sweater that I had yet to shoot in! Suddenly everything began to fall into place as I layered the chunky knit over the frock and found an old belt to cinch the waist giving the look a more feminine shape. Because I was wearing such a bold color, I wanted to keep my makeup and accessories very neutral and subdued. For footwear I chose a pair of closed toe heels with cross strap detailing, that I definitely think added an extra bit of interest and chicness to the outfit. Overall, I feel like this would be the perfect look for a celebratory family dinner, office party, or even a holi-date, (get it?) lol. With only a few weeks left of the year, I just want to spend my time around the people I love while reflecting on my journey and growth thus far. Most importantly, I’d like to spend this time being happy and continuing to find ways to become my best self– while staying well-dressed of course! I hope you guys are having an amazing holiday season and enjoyed this look. Until next time!

Is there such a thing as wearing too much black? To be honest, that was the question I struggled with most when composing this look. Black is moody, edgy, chic, and all around timeless, however I still found myself debating whether the shade was enough on its own. I purchased this stunning ribbed midi dress and though I loved it, I completely underestimated how difficult it would be to style. In my opinion, this item is equivalent to a white tee– a total staple that leaves room to create an endless amount of ensembles. I wasn’t sure whether to dress this piece up or down, add a pop of color, or play off of it’s understated minimalism. Being that I had no real direction, I just browsed the shops until I found items that “spoke” to me; and this cross-body bag was definitely a winner! The fringe and stud details added a rocker-chic vibe that provided an eye catching element to the look without taking away from the classic frock. At this point, while I liked the items I had, I was beginning to wonder whether I needed to somehow break up the darkness. As I continued to shop I found the cutest socks that I knew could add a playful element to not only this outfit, but to so many more in my wardrobe! Finally, I had made a conscious decision to find a pair of shoes that could compliment the pieces I had already gathered but most importantly, were not black! Long story short, I was not successful. As much as I tried to steer clear of it, everything that caught my eye during that particular outing happened to be the same dark shade. I finally decided to give in, and realized that despite the pieces being the same color, they all brought different elements to the look and complimented each other wonderfully. The metallic accents on the bag and shoes made for a nice feminine touch, especially as we approach the holidays, and the socks gave a quirky chic feel that made the overall outfit more interesting. That being said, I totally encourage wearing all-black and when all else fails, a bold lip or nails can never hurt! Until next time!

I’ve always admired the chicness that comes with styling a monochrome look, however up until this point I haven’t had the best luck pulling it off or finding a color that would be fitting for my style. That being said, after a bit of intense retail therapy, everything seemed to “Fall” into place. During this time of year, dark tones such as burgundy, wine, cranberry, and maroon annually leave a lasting impression among retailers everywhere so it wasn’t particularly hard to find pieces that would work for this ensemble. The first item I fell in love with were these coated denim trousers that honestly fit like a dream! I’m a huge fan of mixing textures within my looks so it was no surprise that I was instantly drawn to these pants and definitely plan to get my full wear out of them over the next few months. At this point I was beginning to think about forfeiting my original idea and just style a look that tailored more towards color-blocking, and then I saw it. This mock-neck sweater literally matched my jeans perfectly and created a timeless silhouette that pulled this look together in the most effortless way. While I could’ve continued with matching accessories, I wouldn’t be true to myself if there wasn’t at least a little bit of contrast. For shoes, I decided on a pair of nude suede pumps that in my opinion really made the rich color of the overall outfit pop. Though I didn’t choose a layer of outerwear to style, I grabbed an old scarf and used it as a shawl for an extra bit of dimension. I finished off the look with my favorite ombre aviators and was ready to go! This look came together better than I had anticipated and will definitely remain a trend that I will be revisiting in the future. Comment your thoughts on monochrome and Autumnal looks, and don’t forget to share this post if you’d like. Until next time!

Tweed is a classic fabric that is typically a staple during the Fall and Winter months. I’ve personally always associated the texture with more formal pieces such a blazers and suits, but recently I’ve seen it take on various garment forms this season. I’ve rounded up a few pieces that have caught my eye, so don’t forget to click the images to shop my picks! Until next time!

It’s becoming more frequent during my shopping trips, that I go in with an exact item in mind that I plan to purchase and leave with something that was totally not on my radar. The skirt I ended up styling, though stunning in its own right, was not the item I was set on buying at the time. In my mind, I planned to style a look that juxtaposed a satin more “Spring-like” skirt with a chunky knit and some form of boot. However, that all changed when I tried on the piece and was displeased with, well…everything. From there I was back to the drawing board and was just about to leave the store when I spotted something that was unlike anything I had ever seen. It took me a while to comprehend the beauty of this rare gem as it had so many unique elements, but after a quick trip to the fitting room I realized it was absolutely perfect! It’s no exaggeration when I say this skirt is unlike anything in my wardrobe. The thin tweed-like fabric, frayed hem, and A-symmetrical shape really make this a standout piece that completely encompasses the Autumn/Winter seasonal vibes. With so many colors to choose from given the multicolored striped pattern, I could’ve paired this item with a few different tops. That being said, I opted for a lightweight charcoal grey turtleneck which really helped to make the various tones in the skirt pop without clashing. I chose to keep my footwear simple as well with my staple minimal black mules. For this ensemble I decided to forgo a bag or piece of outerwear as I wanted to keep all of the focus on this amazing skirt; though I did find a pair of geometric shaped earrings which provided an interesting final touch. All in all, I loved the simplicity of this look and the sleek silhouette I was able to create. It just goes to show how we should never be afraid to stray from our initial ideas, as there may be an even better outcome that we hadn’t considered. Until next time!

Nothing screams “Fall fashion” like neutral tones and animal prints, so I absolutely couldn’t resist creating a look that gave my personal take on these trends. I also wanted to use this as an opportunity to style my new leather watch band from Daniel Wellington. Upon seeing this stunning accessory on their website, I knew it would make for the perfect arm candy this Autumn/Winter season. Initially I was aiming to create a rather monochrome look, which I feel like I somewhat achieved but with a bit of a twist. The next piece that really helped curate this look for me, were these amazing pumpkin colored culottes. The silver ring zipper detail on them perfectly highlighted the watch and meshed effortlessly. From there, I had a bit of difficulty choosing a shoe but in the end decided on a pair of brown mules which couldn’t have been more perfect for this casual yet chic look. To tie up the bottom half of the outfit, I stumbled across this leopard print clutch which I received as a gift from another purchase and had totally forgot about! This bag allowed me to fuse all of the warm tones I currently had paired together without having any of the pieces clash. In efforts break up the warmth as  Fall annually does, I added a white button down to the mix to give the look a more classic element while still emphasizing the stark face of the time piece. At this point, all there was left to do was  grab my trench coat and head out the door! This ensemble really got me excited for all of the Autumn looks I plan to style this year, so if you have anything in particular you’d like to see leave a comment below! Lastly if you liked the watch that I styled, there will be bundle deals from 11/1-12/31 in addition to my personal 15% off code: ASTYLEDMIND that can be used on Danielwellington.com. Happy shopping!
