It truly is the most wonderful time of the year; well, at least in my opinion. Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I am probably my happiest as soon as the holidays come around. I am all about getting into the spirit of giving and spending quality time while making lasting memories with those I cherish. So, to kick off my holiday content, I was thrilled when I was contacted for the second time by a notable brand I had the pleasure of working with in the past, Daniel Wellington. Because they are so well known for their timelessly chic watches, I was beyond excited when I was given the opportunity to participate in their holiday campaign! This season they decided to showcase their new Holiday Bundle Box which (for women) consists of the watch of your choice as well as a matching DW cuff bracelet. Though I am usually pretty basic when it comes to my accessories, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and go for the rose gold option. Now I know this may not seem like a big deal to some, but I tend to keep it simple with either traditional silver or gold pieces. Since I was feeling daring however, I chose to reflect that in my ensemble as well. I had recently been on the hunt for a cozy off the shoulder sweater so when I stumbled across this neutral oatmeal colored option, I knew it had to be mine! At this point, I wasn’t working with much and still needed to find a piece that complimented the watch so, my search continued. Luckily, it didn’t take long before I found a multicolored striped skirt that captured my attention the second I laid eyes on it. Initially I thought this piece was a bit too flashy for my taste, but then I figured, “It’s the holiday season, go for it!”– and so I did. As I looked closer, I was inspired by the variety of metallic shades incorporated in this garment and chose to do a bit of metal mixing myself. Instead of keeping with the rose gold theme, I decided to switch things up and add a pair of silver strappy sandals to the mix. In efforts to stay weather appropriate while adding another layer of interest, I also chose a cute pair of socks to wear with my heels. This is a style I’ve seen become increasingly popular over the last few years and I have quickly become a fan! I mean, with this trend there’s no need to put your Summer footwear in storage for half of the year; so what’s not to love?! I was quite pleased with how this look turned out and it definitely made me want to dive into the festivities even more! So with that being said, please feel free to use my code: ASTYLEDMIND15 for 15% off when you order on www.danielwellington.com! This order is valid through 2/28/19 so you have more than enough time to browse the site and check out some goodies for that special person in your life! Happy holidays, and until next time!

Growing up in the North East, I’ve truly come to appreciate each and every season. From the wardrobe changes and nostalgic feelings that come with them, it seems like there’s always something to look forward to. Now that we’re on the cusp on Winter, it is prime time to bring out all of those cozy textures that keep us warm and looking chic! Over the years faux furs have become a Fall/Winter staple and, aside from being just another fashionable piece, are now crafted to look and feel just as good if not better than the real thing! This year, I was determined to add a new coat to my collection that was still for the most part, practical, functional, and eye-catching. I wasn’t necessarily looking for a fur, but when I saw this one I knew it I had to at least try it on. To my surprise, upon doing so, I fell in love with the color, fit, and weight of the outerwear garment and knew it had to be mine! Because this was such a statement making piece, I wanted to be strategic with how I styled it. While I knew I wanted to incorporate neutral tones, I didn’t want to play it too safe by styling an all black/cream outfit. On another shopping trip shortly thereafter, I found this amazing houndstooth midi skirt that had just enough detail to keep the look interesting and dimensional, without taking away from or clashing with the coat. Since faux fur pieces can definitely be a little bulky for some, I made sure to keep the other items of the ensemble sleek and form fitting, including a textured short sleeved mock-neck t-shirt I found. To finish off the look, I decided to add a pop of color with an old pair of orange sock booties, and gold hoops for some extra sass. I know for a fact I’ll be layering this coat over almost anything this season from the most casual to  festive and formal outfits. Let me know in the comments your go-to faux fur garments or accessories and how you like to style them for this time of year. Until next time!

With only a week left until Thanksgiving, I’m finding myself slowly but surely getting into the holiday groove and it’s even begun to show in my current wardrobe. Every year I like to make a mental note of items that I’d like to freshen up or revamp, and leather trousers were definitely on that list. In the past I’ve gravitated toward leggings but this year I was leaning towards something a bit more elevated, and these paper bag waist trousers were the perfect option. In my opinion, the straight leg and tie detail allowed for a more chic and sophisticated take on the edgy garment. Aside from that, I’ve already begun to feel slightly overwhelmed by the abundance of turtlenecks and mock neck sweaters on the market. Granted, we’re approaching the Winter months so of course it’s expected, but I personally wanted to challenge myself to style a different type of top. To my surprise, this ended up being a lot easier than I initially thought and just as I was losing hope, a chain printed button up caught my eye. “Scarf printed” shirts are quite on trend at the moment and though I felt like this was slightly out of my comfort zone, I decided to go for it anyway. To keep the top as the focal point of the look, I knew I wanted to keep any additional pieces black; however, I figured this would also be a good time to incorporate different textures. Despite wanting to stay away from turtlenecks, I made a slight exception and chose to layer a lace version under the shirt for some added interest. The rest of my accessories, were solely added to play off the colors in the bold print. I wanted to highlight the gold chains by adding a pair of black pumps with a metal cap toe detail and my ring-handle bag. For some final touches, I chose to complete the look with my red tinted frames and a bright red lip for a pop of color. Overall, I’m pleased with how this look turned out and I’m excited to style some more outfits suitable for this festive season! Let me know in the comments what types of holiday looks/content you’d like to see in the upcoming weeks. Until next time!

I typically put a lot of thought into my locations in efforts to make sure that they really add a level of cohesiveness to the overall photo shoot. On this particular day, I honestly wasn’t feeling my best and felt that my look was somewhat lacking. In efforts to boost my own moral and add interest to the ensemble, the first thing that came to mind was a flower stand. Ironically, in the 3 and a half years that I’ve been blogging and with 99.9% of my shoots being in NYC, I’ve somehow never managed to use this type of setting as a backdrop– but I’m sure glad I finally did! For this look, I decided to go with a color-blocking theme which was surprisingly pretty unintentional. During this shopping trip I wasn’t really sure which direction I wanted to go in so I just ended up grabbing a bunch of pieces that caught my eye and ran to the dressing room. By the time I got there, I had about 7 pairs of trousers and 2 tops. I quickly realized that this pale blue option was my favorite and kept it on as I continued to try on the pants. It actually caught me off guard when I saw this pairing in the mirror as I didn’t expect these hues to go together, but somehow (at least in my eyes) they complimented each other pretty well. At this point, I was a bit stumped on footwear options as I didn’t have anything that exactly matched either piece, and I felt like a neutral like black or white would’ve simply dulled down the entire outfit. That said, on a another spontaneous shopping expedition, I stumbled upon a pair of hot pink satin pumps and instantly fell in love! Though beyond excited about my purchase, even more so because the shoes were on sale, I was still hesitant about whether or not they would look good with my ensemble. Luckily, everything worked out and the heels provided the extra pop I was looking for without clashing with the other colors. To complete the look, I decided to add one more funky twist and threw on my tortoise shell eyeglasses. Being that animal prints can be worn as a neutral, these frames were perfect for adding another unexpected element, while still tying everything together seamlessly. By the time we were done shooting, I was definitely pleased with how this look turned out and would absolutely consider using more floral arrangements in the future! Let me know in the comments your favorite piece from this outfit and if you would’ve styled anything differently. Until next time!

Day 4 started off very grey as the weather was definitely not on our side. During NYFW looking chic pretty much trumps any ounce of practicality, however since the rain came as an unwanted accessory I chose to style an ensemble that had elements of both. After strutting around in heels the last 3 days, I was more than happy to throw on a pair of leopard print booties. To keep up with my theme of incorporating bold colors, I added a red patent leather mini to the mix, and a cream colored open back blouse for a more delicate touch. After grabbing my over-sized leather jacket and cat-eye frames (despite the lack of sunshine), I was ready to head to my first show of the day by the brand, Nonie. It was quite the coincidence that the designs incorporated similarly structured elements to what I was wearing, as well as more feminine pieces such as silk blouses and vibrant wrap dresses. I could honestly picture myself in every garment displayed from this collection and am excited to see what new creations the upcoming seasons bring.

After taking a break for brunch and catching up with more familiar faces, I was able to get a behind the scenes look at all of the preparation that goes into setting up for a runway show. This was my first time going backstage and to have the opportunity to do so before the Ruby Fang presentation, was beyond exciting. Surprisingly, though there was so much going on from making up the models, steaming the garments, and rehearsing the actual order of the walk, there was also a calmness among the room which gave a sense that everyone knew exactly what they needed to get done to have a successful production. I honestly still get amazed by all of the genuine connections I’ve made just from being a part of the blogger/fashion industry and I’m truly grateful for the experiences I’ve had thus far as well as the knowledge I’ve gained along the way.

My last day ended with another fashion week favorite of mine, Dan Liu. He always incorporates theatrics and creates a true story with his shows that make them truly memorable and for me, the perfect note to end my NYFW on. For this show I wore my boldest outfit yet; a bright magenta suit paired with red sneakers and sunnies to match. I layered a lace top under the suit and for maximum color saturation, added a hot pink bag to finish the look. This may have been my most enjoyable season because I told myself from the very beginning that I would not stress myself out. I made it a point to only take on what I could handle and if I missed a show or two, I didn’t allow the fomo or guilt to consume me. It was due to this mindset that I was able to get through the week relaxed and level-headed from start to finish. I’m definitely looking forward to what February has in store as well as the possibility of checking out a few new cities for fashion week next year. I hope you enjoyed my recap and until next time!

Living in the northeast, Summer styles and trends are not very practical year-round. That said, I always like to take advantage of the annual sales and use it as an opportunity to finally purchase the seasonal items I’ve had my eye on for a fraction of the price. Below I’ve listed 10 brands (that I personally love), whose sales are still ongoing; thank me later! Until next time! 🙂

What’s one thing a t-shirt, jeans, a blazer, and white sneakers all have in common? Well aside from being articles of clothing, I think they also share the commonality of being wardrobe staples. In my opinion, both men and women should keep these 4 items in their closets at all times as they can easily be the foundation to any ensemble for most occasions. Check out the items I’ve rounded up below and don’t forget to click the images to shop my picks. Until next time!

I don’t know about you but whenever I’m having trouble deciding on what to wear for the day, I like to go back to my most basic pieces and build from there. In this case, I opted for a classic pair of light wash denim jeans, and a white button up; something I’m pretty positive we all currently own. I also feel like this is one of the fool proof combinations perfect for entering the spring and summer seasons as it always looks refreshing and timeless. On my search to find pieces to complete this look, I honestly didn’t have much in mind but knew I wanted something vibrant and different. It didn’t take long before I stumbled upon a multicolored beaded bralette with intricate embroidered details. Because this piece had so much going on, I figured it would it would be the perfect item to layer over my stark shirt to give the ensemble a bit more interest. Another plus to styling heavily embellished garments is that you can easily eliminate the hassle of finding accessories, as the focus will remain on that eye-catching piece. Though I opted to forgo a bag, I still wanted to complete the look with something that tied the ensemble together seamlessly. I suddenly remembered a pair of satin heeled sandals I had purchased last year that perfectly highlighted the bright tangerine hues in my top; and with that final touch, the look was complete! All in all, this look was pretty easy to pull together and it just goes to show why certain pieces have remained the foundation of a lot of our wardrobes (including myself). At the end of the day you can never go wrong with jeans and a top! So let me know in the comments below how often you incorporate these closet staples into your weekly looks! Until next time!

As we approach the Spring season, it was imperative to me that I started introducing lighter hues into my wardrobe. When shopping for this look, I was shocked to realize that I didn’t own a pair of white jeans and probably haven’t for quite a few years now. Needless to say, when I came across this pair of denim culottes, I instantly knew that they would be the perfect foundation piece for this ensemble. As a shorter girl, I’ve always found this style of pant super flattering and effortlessly chic. Recently, I’ve also noticed lighter more muted shades of blue really making a statement in various retailers and after much back and forth, I decided to pair my trousers with a thin sea foam colored roll-neck. While this color is a bit out of the norm for me, I liked the uniqueness of the shade and the versatility it can bring to number of pieces already in my closet. At this point I was slightly at a standstill because I had two very simple pieces but nothing that really tied them together to create a cohesive outfit. I then remembered an item I had previously seen in a store I had been browsing in earlier, and to my surprise it was the perfect addition! This cropped corduroy jacket is definitely not something I could’ve imagined myself picking up initially however, it really brought a nostalgic element to the look as well as color-blocking– a trend I typically don’t find myself gravitating towards on a regular basis. For accessories, I decided to reach for a cool-toned grey backpack which I felt meshed well with the overall color scheme of the ensemble and some mixed metal hoops which played off of the ring detail on the bag. Since the entire outfit was pretty light as a whole, I chose to finish it off with my favorite pair of black minimal mules for a bit of balance. Though there were many elements that took me out of my comfort zone with this particular look, I was pleased with how it turned out and happy I took a few fashion risks along the way. Comment below your favorite piece from this look; until next time!

With spring comes warm weather, and warm weather brings tons of outdoor activities! I decided to switch gears and create a more casual look for the “girl on the go” who can easily make the transition from brunch to the park. The first piece I came across during my shopping trip was a mismatched button up. I was instantly drawn to the contrasting striped pattern which made the top incredibly eye-catching and unique in comparison to the average dress-shirt. From this point I was pretty set on finding a pair of jeans to complete this look but to my surprise that task ended up being much harder than I had expected. For whatever reason, I simply couldn’t find a pair of denim that satisfied my vision for this ensemble and after hours of searching I was ready to give up and recycle something from my existing wardrobe. In a last stitch effort however, I paired the top with a light wash denim midi skirt, and instantly knew I had found what I was looking for. To offset the more feminine pieces, I chose to wear a pair of sneakers which added a cool “tom-boy” vibe to the overall look. Lastly, I decided to try something new and take a risk with an accessory that has been trending for the last few seasons. I was never really interested in the idea of a fanny pack, however I’d be lying if I said the practicality of the item didn’t somewhat intrigue me. That being said, I decided to introduce a pop of color with a bright red waist bag that ultimately tied the entire outfit together seamlessly. This was a very simple look; however I loved the mixture of smart and casual pieces. I definitely plan on creating more day to day styles with similar elements in the upcoming seasons and I also plan to get the most use out of my new bag! Comment below your opinion of fanny packs and whether you think they can be chic given the right styling. Until next time!
