“Tis’ the season to be jolly… ” and that, I most certainly am! The warmth and joy that this time of year brings, is honestly something I don’t think I’ll ever stop being excited for! Given the fact that Christmas is literally days away, I knew I wanted to style a look that was festive but I didn’t have any specific pieces in mind. After a pretty hectic shopping trip around the city, I had a decent haul of items that unfortunately could be paired in so many different combinations I was left with quite the dilemma. My initial thought was to pair the glittery bronze midi dress with a blazer, but the tones ended up being a bit too similar and it left the ensemble feeling quite dull. After getting the pieces home and clearing my head, I remembered that I had recently purchased  a red sweater that I had yet to shoot in! Suddenly everything began to fall into place as I layered the chunky knit over the frock and found an old belt to cinch the waist giving the look a more feminine shape. Because I was wearing such a bold color, I wanted to keep my makeup and accessories very neutral and subdued. For footwear I chose a pair of closed toe heels with cross strap detailing, that I definitely think added an extra bit of interest and chicness to the outfit. Overall, I feel like this would be the perfect look for a celebratory family dinner, office party, or even a holi-date, (get it?) lol. With only a few weeks left of the year, I just want to spend my time around the people I love while reflecting on my journey and growth thus far. Most importantly, I’d like to spend this time being happy and continuing to find ways to become my best self– while staying well-dressed of course! I hope you guys are having an amazing holiday season and enjoyed this look. Until next time!

As a lover of knitwear, it can sometimes become disheartening knowing that I have to store certain items away until the cooler months. That said, there are TONS of lighter, more Summer appropriate pieces that can hold you over until the weather breaks. Check out some of the thinner knit garments I’ve gathered below, and don’t forget to click the images to shop my picks. Until next time!

I can hardly believe that this will be my final blog post of 2016. That said, of course I had to bring a bit of glitz as we quickly approach one of the biggest party night’s of the year. From the moment I saw this cold-shoulder embellished knit I knew it was definitely worthy of a photo shoot, however, I was a bit stumped with the direction I wanted to go in for this look. Because of the top’s neutral color, I had no problem finding other pieces to pair it with; it was just a matter of whether I wanted to dress it up or dress it down. After searching through the archives of my previous looks, I decided to go with something a bit more formal. Metallic pleated midi skirts have literally been EVERYWHERE this season, and though I was hesitant to jump on the trend for that reason, there was something about this skirt in particular that I couldn’t resist. For me, I think it was the fact that the material was similar to a soft suede instead of the typical rigid, foiled texture. Also, though it may be hard to see, I liked the uniqueness of the metallic accents and how they were scattered across the skirt with a marbled effect, rather than the usual opaque coated style. Overall, I loved how these 2 pieces complimented each other and to keep them as the focal point, I chose black accessories to let them shine. I am super excited to see what 2017 has in store and can’t wait to show you guys some of the ideas I’ve been working on. I hope everyone has a fun and safe NYE. See you next year! 🙂

I’ve really been into co-ord sets and suits lately. There’s something about having one cohesive look with a matching top and bottom that in my opinion just screams”CHIC!” As soon as I saw these pieces I knew, that aside from being perfect for fall, I had to add them to my slowly growing collection. This set is made of a light knit which is super comfortable and casual enough so that it can be dressed up or down. Another added bonus about co-ords is that they are extremely versatile and can be worn both together or as separates. I definitely look forward to mixing and matching these pieces with other items in my closet and seeing what other looks I can create! With this look being pretty neutral, I decided to add some eye-catching elements with my patched bag and designer sunnies. I’ve also been basically living in these MK heels since I bought them from this amazing consignment shop. They are so classic and comfortable– I mean, a girl can never have to many pairs of black heels right? Overall, I am so happy I purchased this set and it has only validated my love for co-ords. Until next time!

Leather. Denim. Knit. Fringe. These are pretty much my holy grail staple textures whenever I have no idea what to wear. By pairing two or more of these fabrics, I’m always guaranteed to walk away with a chic and casual look that can get me through the day. All of the pieces used for this look have been in my closet for at least a year and never seem to go out of style. I have quite a few leather jackets in various colors, but in my opinion a classic black is always your best bet, especially if you’re in a rush. My second fave is distressed denim. Like leather jackets, they seem to just get better with time and wear. I’ve had these since high school (believe it or not) and still can’t seem to let them go! Since we’re still facing the cold temperatures chunky knits are almost always a must. I love this one because it is one of the few non-oversized sweaters in my closet and the thick collar provides extra warmth and style. Fringe is a texture that was introduced during the summer months in relation to the 70’s trend, but can definitely be incorporated into all seasons. I’m truly a fan of it because it adds movement and interest to any outfit. Along with these classic pieces, I finished the look off with a timeless red lip and was on my way. Chic looks don’t always have to be complex, you know. Until next time! 😉
