Metallics for summer have become increasingly popular this year. I love that they add a bit of glam to any look while still remaining neutral enough to go with almost anything. As a known lover of contrast, I knew right away that I would be styling this dainty midi dress with sneakers. I’ve found at times when styling looks in a cohesive direction, they can sometimes appear too formal or overdone. In my opinion, adding an element that goes against the grain of the ensemble always ends up creating a much more interesting and cool vibe. To add an extra layer of casual, I threw on one of my favorite jackets by Adidas. I showcased this piece on the blog for the first time last year and raved about it; to me, it’s no surprise  that my feelings have not changed one bit! It still adds just the right amount of sporty edge and it’s a piece that I’m sure will remain a staple in my closet for many seasons to come. Because the dress was so “glitzy” I didn’t feel the need to accessorize much, but I added a simple gold choker just to tie everything together. I am a huge fan of looks that mesh together different styles like girly and sporty and this outfit did just that! So how do you like metallic trend? Are you a fan of the summer sun hitting these sparkly pieces, or do you prefer to save the glitz and glam for NYE? Either way, let me know in the comments below. Until next time!!

This look is already a new favorite! I’ve been seeing the patch trend literally EVERYWHERE lately so I couldn’t help but pick up a piece that I could easily fit into my wardrobe. Personally, I’m not much of a DIY girl thus I was never into gluing or ironing patches and badges onto my clothes. With that being said, I’ve always loved the vintage and unique feel it gave to some pieces so I knew I had to try it out! Aside from the blatant eye-catching elements of these jeans, I  was also pleased to see that they were a “mom” fit. While the “mom jean” was initially described as quite an unflattering look, they have easily become one of my favorite styles of denim. I love the combination of the relaxed fit while still making sure to accentuate the curves of the female body; sounds like a win all around if you ask me!  While I could have paired these trousers with a black top and called it a day, I wanted to play up the quirky side of the bottoms so I went with a simple metallic cropped tank. I’ve been very much into metallics lately, so when I saw that this dainty top was constructed of a leather-like material, I knew I had to have it! These pieces meshed perfectly together but in order to keep the focus on the main two items, I kept it subtle and added minimal black heeled sandals and my black backpack to finish off the look. What I love most about this look is that it is constructed of statement pieces that can be worn together or stand alone. I think the most important part about building a wardrobe is finding articles of clothing that you can wear multiple different ways and can adapt as you introduce new items to your closet. Until next time!

For my second holiday look, I decided to go for another fairly casual outfit with a bit of flare. If you are not the type of girl who is into sequins and wants something slightly less flashy, metallic textures and prints are a great alternative. Though I am personally a fan of sequins, I know that they can sometimes make a garment too heavy or, depending on the placement, can also be rather itchy. Luckily, during the holiday season metallic pieces are also in high demand and can be found in most retailers. Similar to my previous look, I kept the drama on the bottom with a metallic pencil skirt, so I made sure to keep everything quite neutral. With that being said though, I wanted to challenge myself by not using any black pieces so I accessorized with white and grey. I feel like the shoes and clutch added a bright pop to the look and played off of the “winter white” trend that is also quite popular. In efforts to not have the look be too overwhelming, I wore a plain grey cropped tee and just threw on a statement necklace for a little extra shine. Surprisingly, I really like the idea of more casual holiday looks this year. While floor length, sequin gowns are always statement worthy, I think looks like these can allow for less stress and the ability to be more comfortable while focusing on the celebration. But who am I kidding; I could change my mind by New Years. We’ll just have to wait and see I guess! Lol. Until next time!
