It’s becoming more frequent during my shopping trips, that I go in with an exact item in mind that I plan to purchase and leave with something that was totally not on my radar. The skirt I ended up styling, though stunning in its own right, was not the item I was set on buying at the time. In my mind, I planned to style a look that juxtaposed a satin more “Spring-like” skirt with a chunky knit and some form of boot. However, that all changed when I tried on the piece and was displeased with, well…everything. From there I was back to the drawing board and was just about to leave the store when I spotted something that was unlike anything I had ever seen. It took me a while to comprehend the beauty of this rare gem as it had so many unique elements, but after a quick trip to the fitting room I realized it was absolutely perfect! It’s no exaggeration when I say this skirt is unlike anything in my wardrobe. The thin tweed-like fabric, frayed hem, and A-symmetrical shape really make this a standout piece that completely encompasses the Autumn/Winter seasonal vibes. With so many colors to choose from given the multicolored striped pattern, I could’ve paired this item with a few different tops. That being said, I opted for a lightweight charcoal grey turtleneck which really helped to make the various tones in the skirt pop without clashing. I chose to keep my footwear simple as well with my staple minimal black mules. For this ensemble I decided to forgo a bag or piece of outerwear as I wanted to keep all of the focus on this amazing skirt; though I did find a pair of geometric shaped earrings which provided an interesting final touch. All in all, I loved the simplicity of this look and the sleek silhouette I was able to create. It just goes to show how we should never be afraid to stray from our initial ideas, as there may be an even better outcome that we hadn’t considered. Until next time!

Nothing screams “Fall fashion” like neutral tones and animal prints, so I absolutely couldn’t resist creating a look that gave my personal take on these trends. I also wanted to use this as an opportunity to style my new leather watch band from Daniel Wellington. Upon seeing this stunning accessory on their website, I knew it would make for the perfect arm candy this Autumn/Winter season. Initially I was aiming to create a rather monochrome look, which I feel like I somewhat achieved but with a bit of a twist. The next piece that really helped curate this look for me, were these amazing pumpkin colored culottes. The silver ring zipper detail on them perfectly highlighted the watch and meshed effortlessly. From there, I had a bit of difficulty choosing a shoe but in the end decided on a pair of brown mules which couldn’t have been more perfect for this casual yet chic look. To tie up the bottom half of the outfit, I stumbled across this leopard print clutch which I received as a gift from another purchase and had totally forgot about! This bag allowed me to fuse all of the warm tones I currently had paired together without having any of the pieces clash. In efforts break up the warmth as  Fall annually does, I added a white button down to the mix to give the look a more classic element while still emphasizing the stark face of the time piece. At this point, all there was left to do was  grab my trench coat and head out the door! This ensemble really got me excited for all of the Autumn looks I plan to style this year, so if you have anything in particular you’d like to see leave a comment below! Lastly if you liked the watch that I styled, there will be bundle deals from 11/1-12/31 in addition to my personal 15% off code: ASTYLEDMIND that can be used on Danielwellington.com. Happy shopping!

While it is super exciting to finally begin to shoot more “Spring-appropriate” pieces, the current temperatures on the East Coast are still a little brisk at times. In all honestly, I was fully prepared to shoot this look without the outer layer but on second thought, and with a co-sign from my photographer, I realized that the coat actually added another element of dimension and interest to the outfit. I haven’t dabbled much into the print-mixing trend but this last minute change allowed me to do just that! I found that it is much easier to mix prints when they have a common base color; in this instance, black. In my opinion, the plaid against the floral print perfectly represented the seasonal transitions. Both prints were also neutral enough to allow me to incorporate yet another trend which is the pop of yellow. Aside from this cross-body bag bringing out the yellow stripe in the plaid print, the gold hardware also matched that of my coat as well. I absolutely love how this look came together and how each piece complimented something in the other. I’ve had these completely bleached cream colored jeans for a few years now and I still find endless new ways to incorporate them into my wardrobe, especially as we approach the warmer months. There’s something about the color that adds a unique quality to any outfit and definitely emphasized the flowers on my top more than I think a regular pair of blue jeans would have. To finish off the look I kept it minimal with my favorite (and only) pair of black mules. I’m going to step out on limb and say that this look might actually be a new favorite, but let me know what you think in the comments below. Until next time!

Hands down, this shoot has easily become my new favorite! I loved everything about it from the outfit itself, to the location, even the weather was perfect! As usual, I wanted to construct a look using simple pieces that contained eye-catching, stand out elements and I think I successfully achieved just that! In my opinion, this outfit pretty much consisted of what I would consider the basic “closet essentials.” Because the bag was the busiest piece with all of the patchwork details, I decided to pair it with a crisp white button up and a distressed denim pencil skirt. This shirt is probably one of the most interesting tops in my closet and it fully encompasses the true meaning of “business in the front, party in the back.” Over the last few spring and summer seasons, denim skirts have also made quite the comeback and this silhouette happens to be my personal fave. I kept the footwear pretty minimal as well with my single strap mules, another closet staple. When building up your wardrobe, it is important to at least begin with foundational pieces that can easily translate into different looks and can be worn across two or more seasons. Lately, I have also noticed quirkier pieces making their way into fashion, so when I saw this bag I knew it would be the perfect accessory to add a cool pop to any ensemble. I had a lot of fun with this shoot and I hope you guys enjoy this post. Until next time!

It brings me great joy to say that this is the first shoot I’ve done since I’ve started my blog that didn’t involve me complaining about being cold lol. We actually shot this on two separate days, first in the lower east side then in midtown, and both were sunny, warm, and beautiful! Though I am still working on my gym routine, I was delighted to show a little midriff with this furry cropped sweater. I pretty much built this ensemble around the “care bear-esque” looking piece and ended up with a look that was somewhat on the icy side. I loved how the different washes of denim and the baby blue top came together to form a monochrome inspired outfit, without being too matchy.
