In my opinion, vertical stripes are probably one of the most flattering patterns you can wear. They work to elongate your features and make for a very clean and seamless look. Also, for the shorter girls out there like myself, culottes make for an awesome option when it comes to trousers; especially when your tailor isn’t near by. For this look, I wanted to go for something that was comfortable, chic, and simple. I bought this culotte jumpsuit last year and its easily become one of my favorite pieces. As we all know, I love pieces that require minimal effort and thought. I’m also obsessed with this garment because although it has such a simple color palette and pattern, it’s quite eye catching and will definitely have you standing out in a crowd. Because the Spring weather hasn’t been consistent as of yet, I decided to break up the darkness of the look and add a long sleeved grey crop top underneath for an added layer of warmth. This look, completed with a leather jacket, lace-up block heels, and my fringe backpack left me feeling all of the 90s vibes and I loved every minute of it! To me, there’s something to be said about an outfit that leaves you feeling confident and ready to take on any situation, and that’s something that I strive for when I’m creating looks. As I enter into the second year of having my blog, I want to remember to continue to follow my heart and do what makes me happy, and I encourage you all to do the same in all aspects of your life, especially fashion! Until next time!

I’ve noticed a lot more statement pieces this year for spring, than in the past. This season, it seems like the leading “F” in fashion stands for FUN, and a lot of designers and retailers are putting  quite a bit more personality and life into their clothing. One of the main items I’ve seen making bold statements has been outerwear; specifically, bomber jackets. The bomber jacket trend became quite popular a few seasons ago in the traditional olive green, but this year it’s back and better than ever! Jackets with intricate details, floral prints, and shiny satin material have been showing up in most major retail stores and adding a “pop” to outfits everywhere. Being a lover of contrast, I just couldn’t pass up this jacket. I’m obsessed with how the soft feminine print plays off of the sporty vibe of the garment. With such a bold piece, I kept the rest of the look pretty simple with a slightly distressed, frayed edge skinny jean and black strappy heels. To keep the outfit playful and light, I added my new taupe fringe bag and was on my way! Statement jackets are a very easy way to add some interest to an otherwise simple or rather dull look without putting forth too much effort. In my opinion you can never go wrong, but what do you think?? Are you loving this trend, or do you think it’s just a fad that will be gone tomorrow (or next summer)? Comment your thoughts below, until next time!

In honor of the gradually rising temperatures, I decided to give my legs a little fresh air with this look. Forever 21 has really been surprising me lately with their pieces, especially those from the “contemporary” line (which is basically where this entire look is from). Since I chose to show a bit of skin on the bottom, I decided to keep the top covered to maintain a natural balance. For those who are just beginning to style and put looks together, this is a great tip to remember! While I wanted to bring a bit of color into this look, I still wanted to remain fairly neutral so I went for this olive green suede dress which I absolutely love! Being in between seasons, periods of the day can still get quite cool so don’t be afraid to continue to reach for heavier fabrics like suede and leather until the weather consistently heats up. As an extra layer, I paired the dress with a an elegant blouse that incorporated a neck tie detail and button sleeves. This Victorian style of blouse has become quite popular over the last few seasons and definitely brings a bit of chicness to any look. To keep the look fun and playful I threw on my fringe heeled sandals which look amazing when strutting down any street. I like this look because though it is fairly simple, the details in the different pieces seem to speak for themselves and come together quite nicely. Now if spring could just hurry up and get here all would be well! Has anyone heard from the groundhog???? Until next time! 🙂

Leather. Denim. Knit. Fringe. These are pretty much my holy grail staple textures whenever I have no idea what to wear. By pairing two or more of these fabrics, I’m always guaranteed to walk away with a chic and casual look that can get me through the day. All of the pieces used for this look have been in my closet for at least a year and never seem to go out of style. I have quite a few leather jackets in various colors, but in my opinion a classic black is always your best bet, especially if you’re in a rush. My second fave is distressed denim. Like leather jackets, they seem to just get better with time and wear. I’ve had these since high school (believe it or not) and still can’t seem to let them go! Since we’re still facing the cold temperatures chunky knits are almost always a must. I love this one because it is one of the few non-oversized sweaters in my closet and the thick collar provides extra warmth and style. Fringe is a texture that was introduced during the summer months in relation to the 70’s trend, but can definitely be incorporated into all seasons. I’m truly a fan of it because it adds movement and interest to any outfit. Along with these classic pieces, I finished the look off with a timeless red lip and was on my way. Chic looks don’t always have to be complex, you know. Until next time! 😉

Merry Christmas All!!! On this oddly warm Christmas Day, I decided to post my third look for my holiday outfit series. It’s definitely feeling like a Cali Christmas on the east coast, but the warm weather has not stopped the holiday spirit by any means. In efforts to really emphasize the holiday, I chose to center this look around an embellished sweater that I actually bought and wore last year on Christmas Day. I love this top because though it does have the sparkle that most garments possess during the holidays, it is not so obviously “Christmas-themed” and can be worn on many different occasions. To continue to keep things fun and festive, I added a fringe mini skirt on the bottom and my oh-s0-popular thigh high boots for a little added height and warmth. (Side note: I have really been loving pairing navy and black. Is it just me?) This look is perfect for any holiday party, night out, or even dinner with the family. I hope you guys enjoy this look and have a wonderful day with your loved ones! Happy Holidays!!!

Ok guys, I have a confession to make. I think I might be (faux) leather OBSESSED! Leather has always been one of my go-to fabrics when the temperatures begin to drop but this season my love for it has reached an all-time high and I simply just can’t get enough. I have to literally stop myself from ripping every leather item off the racks and running to the register with it, sad I know. For this look, being that it consisted of three statement leather pieces, I had to strategically assemble it so that it was not overwhelming. In my opinion, a good way to successfully wear items of the same fabric at once is to make sure that the pieces are spread apart and/or differ in color. I attempted to practice both methods in creating this ensemble. Because it was a warmer fall day, I was able to use my bare legs as a barrier between the green leather mini and the leather ankle boots (tights or fun socks could also be added on cooler days). I also added a light grey men’s turtleneck (thanks Dad) to brighten up the look as well as separate the leather texture of the backpack against the other pieces. This look was simple, chic, and comfortable; an all-around fashionable win if you ask me! Unfortunately, I don’t know how I’m going to get past my leather addiction but the first stage is acceptance…..right? 😉

This was probably the first shoot I’ve done in which the vision was almost completely dictated by the location. As soon as we decided on the playground, the ensemble took on a whole new life of it’s own. It brought me back to the many years I spent in private school with those stark white collared shirts, and plaid skirts (of course they were much longer back then) and how we would always try our best to make our uniforms as flattering and unique as possible. Needless to say, we weren’t that successful but those years definitely helped shape who I am today and had its fun moments. For this look I wanted to focus on the subtle details of the pieces, such as the double hem of the top and the intricate stitching on the leather mini. To add a little fun and movement to the look, I threw on a pair of fringe heeled sandals and enjoyed the moment. As I’m sure the kids and their parents looked at me like I was crazy, I had a blast reliving a moment of my childhood, in a much more fashionable way of course! 😉

In honor of the 4th of July, I thought it was only right that I recreate an outfit that I wore on last year’s Independence Day. Though I would use many different adjectives to describe my personal style, I would be lying if I said “casual” isn’t one of the main ones; and I think this look supports that. While I do love a good heel most of the time, summer days to me scream, “white sneakers, comfort, and cool.” I have also recently become on board with the backpack trend and I must say, I’m loving it! They’re so simple and convenient, and depending on style can definitely add some interest to your look. Overall this look is pretty simple, which is why I decided to incorporate as many textures as I could. I think the sheer fabric against the chambray and leather all work nicely to create a cohesive ensemble. Just thinking about this day a year ago makes me want to light up the grill and chow down on a juicy burger lol. So what’s your favorite summer trend? Enjoy your holiday!
