There’s nothing like breaking out a new pair of white sandals on a sunny Spring or Summer day! No matter what the style may be, they always tend to add a sleekness to any look while showcasing elements of timeless minimalism. Below I’ve rounded up a few variations that are sure to compliment a wide variety of ensembles this season. Don’t forget to click the images to shop my picks and until next time!

As much as we’ve all anticipated the arrival of Spring, dressing for the unpredictable season can sometimes be a bit challenging. Despite the varying temperature changes throughout the day, there’s also the constant possibility of a rain storm at any moment. That being said, this is also a transitional time full of growth, and new beginnings! Having the opportunity to try out new pieces from the Who What Wear Collection has really prompted me to start thinking about my personal style this season and how I may want to revamp my wardrobe. Delicate fabrics are always a key indicator that we’re shifting into warmer months, and I’ve truly enjoyed creating a variety of looks with them especially when it comes to layering. To be completely honest though, while I did choose this flowy printed skirt as one of my favorites, I began to second guess my decision upon receiving. Aside from the length slightly troubling me, green is not a color that I wear often; but I was determined to make it work! For me, what truly saved this garment were the buttons. I loved that I could adjust them to my liking which gave the illusion of added height, not to mention the gorgeous movement it allowed with every strut and spin. In efforts to be mindful of the weather and keep things casual, I decided to throw on an over-sized sweatshirt. The mock neck detail truly made this top chicer than your average pullover, yet unfortunately it was still a bit shapeless. To define my waistline, I added a black belt with gold hardware and finished off the look with sock boots to match. Accessories were key for this look, and lucky for me, I had the perfect olive green and gold earrings to tie everything together. Lastly, for a bit of a wild card, I grabbed my grey leather backpack with matching metal accents to expand the color palette and add a final touch of interest. I personally love ensembles that are simple but can easily be elevated with the addition of statement making pieces; most of which already existed in my own closet, believe it or not! Comment below your favorite item from this look and what you’re looking forward to wearing most this Spring season. Until next time!

MEJURI:

While it would be nearly impossible to showcase all of the footage I captured this season during NYFW, I wanted to pull some of my favorite photos together to get a BTS feel of this hectic week. Because I’m still balancing a full-time job, I decided to start slow, and ease my way into the festivities with a night of socializing and shopping at Mejuri in Soho. This charming jewelry store, is full of every dainty, delicate, and modern accessory one could imagine! By the end of the night, being a person who typically gravitates towards simple everyday pieces, I had definitely taken note of a few midi rings I could stack as well as timeless earrings that could add a subtle touch of interest to any ensemble.

FASHION HONG KONG:

The second day, I kicked things up a notch and attended my first collection of shows. What I like most about these runway presentations, is that they showcase different designers and allow the viewer to really get a sense of each designers’ inspiration. Bright colored outerwear and tailored garments definitely seemed to be a theme across the board; however, the combination of military structured garments and feminine silhouettes had to be my favorite!

WOC FASHTECH BRUNCH/OXFORD FASHION STUDIO:

Day 3 was a fun one as I started my day with a networking brunch that brought together women of color in the fashion-technology space. After listening to the panel and doing a bit of mingling on my own, I truly felt uplifted, inspired, and more motivated than ever! Once the afternoon had come to an end, it was time for a few more shows. By far, my favorite collection featured more avant-garde pieces where the designer paired lace masks with embroidered gowns, truly bringing an unexpected edge to formal evening wear.

HAKKAN AKAYA/GLOBAL FASHION COLLECTIVE/NOLCHA SHOWS:

This was by far my busiest day. I had back to back shows and was literally running all around the city from 1pm-9pm. The highlight of this day was seeing Hakkan Akaya. I always love the gritty, “punk rock” elements this brand brings; but this year, they seemed to take their designs in a slightly different direction with more futuristic pieces as well. The strong shoulders, colorful metallics, and studded jumpsuits, definitely made this show one of the most exciting to witness. I also got a chance to go backstage at Pier 59 and capture some of what goes on minutes before the shows start. There always seems to be a “calm chaos” in the air, coupled with dozens of people scrambling to steam garments, finish hair & makeup, and make sure the model line-up is correct—but what else would you expect from NYFW?!

BUMBLE/AFFAIR:

My second to last day of the week, I spent supporting my friend at her event hosted by the popular app, Bumble, where she was speaking on a panel discussing the experience of being Latina in the influencer world. It was highly informative and really stressed the importance of inclusion and equality in all spaces. Lastly, I ended my season of NYFW with a sexy show by the brand, Affair. I’ve attended this designer’s shows during previous seasons, and always appreciate the intricate details of each garment and how they are so specifically created for the strong, confident woman. As per usual, this fashion week was a hectic one, but I am so grateful for the opportunity to attend while building my network, and capturing content that I love. See you in September! <3

As if I wasn’t obsessed with jumpsuits enough, a new variation has surfaced which has in turn revamped my excitement and need to further add to my collection. Recently, “boiler suits” have become the new trendiest item in street-style, perfect for giving off all the effortlessly cool vibes we all know and love. The only difference I’ve seen between this garment and other statement one-pieces, is the casual and relaxed fit coupled with a somewhat utilitarian structure. That being said, they are just as easy to style and are perfect for those on the go days when outfit preparation is not feasible. Because pieces like this are essentially an all-in-one outfit, I was faced with the challenge of creating a look that was slightly more interesting than just throwing it on straight from the hanger. To solve this issue, I immediately knew that layering would be my best bet. Though reaching for a turtleneck was my first instinct, I decided to try a different style of top that would still highlight the suit’s design. It didn’t take long before my attention was captured by a neutral colored knit, accented with a zip closure along the neck. Believe it or not, this is my first sweater in this style and I couldn’t help but get a sense of the 70’s after putting it on. To add a bit more texture, I decided to showcase my new booties in a bold muti-colored snake print. I love these shoes because aside from being complete head turners, they can literally go with anything due to the burgundy, cream, blue, and grey tones throughout the pattern. At this point, while my look was nearly complete, I still felt like something was missing. Outwear isn’t something I feature often on my blog, but due to the severe temperatures we’ve been facing lately, I felt it was absolutely necessary. I’ve been on the hunt for a shorter puffer jacket this season and just when I thought I had missed my chance, I stumbled upon this heather grey beauty! Aside from the color, the overall cut, fabric, and style perfectly aligned with the theme of this ensemble in the most practical yet chic way. Let me know in the comments your favorite piece(s) from this look and what staple items you’ve been reaching for to brave this 2019 Winter. Until next time!

There are certain fabrics that just scream “chic elegance,” and I’d have to say silk is one of them. As I’ve gotten older and begun to pay more attention to the quality of garments instead of just how trendy they are, I’ve come across this material quite often definitely see why it is worth investing in. Below I’ve rounded up a few shirts that I wouldn’t mind adding to my personal collection. Don’t forget to click the images to shop my picks; until next time!

For this collaboration with Who What Wear, I was challenged to style one article of clothing 3 different ways. Though excited, as this isn’t something I typically showcase on my blog, I was also a bit nervous not because I felt incapable but because I wasn’t choosing the item myself. That being said, I was so relieved to see that the item chosen for me was right up my alley and a wardrobe staple that I could easily style in a variety of ways. This double-breasted, pin striped blazer is the perfect Fall essential for layering over transitional pieces and adding a more tailored element to any ensemble. For my first look, I decided to keep things very chic and sleek by pairing it with a turtleneck that I layered under a satin camisole, along with black skinnys and a pair of minimal black pumps. To me, this look gave more of a business casual vibe, or “boss babe” if you will. Overall, I loved the way this look turned out and it definitely made me feel strong and confident!

I would say that my second look is for the more casual & cool girls out there. Putting this outfit together was extremely effortless and I think it showed in the way the pieces complimented each other. I chose to do a bit of print-mixing and found the perfect red, leopard print frock to do so. To keep things easy, I threw on some sneakers and a pair of mesh socks for a cute unexpected detail and was out the door. In efforts to add a few more accessories, I grabbed my black cross-body bag with silver hardware and cat-eye frames, which I definitely think helped play off of the edgy vibe without being too overpowering.

Last but certainly not least, I decided to end with a trendy street-style look. As we are well into the Autumn season, I felt like I couldn’t finish this collaboration without incorporating a bit of corduroy. Luckily, I was able to find the most amazing flared trousers which made all of my 70’s dreams come true. To keep them as the focal point of the look, I paired the pants with a simple white t-shirt and added a some gold layered necklaces which I’ve been absolutely obsessed with lately. After throwing on my black booties, I completed this look with a dark vampy lip and draped the blazer over my shoulders for a final touch.  Personally, I loved all of these looks for different reasons and I feel like they reflected the versatility of my everyday style in the best way. Let me know in the comments which outfit was your favorite and if you would’ve styled this blazer in a way that I didn’t think of. Until next time!

When styling outfits, I’m definitely a fan of mixing textures and recently satin has become one fabric that I’ve been consistently drawn to. Satin shoes in particular always seem to add a delicate, yet feminine element to any look no matter what they’re paired with. Below I’ve rounded up a few options that have recently caught my eye, so don’t forget to click the images to shop my picks! Until next time!
