As summer comes to an end, finding transitional pieces I can take into the cooler months is crucial. The idea of having a completely separate wardrobe for each season was never appealing to me, nor was the thought of having to “turn over” my closet every quarter. The majority of the garments I now own are multi-functional, and that has always been my intention. Regardless of the time of year, whether I’m in the office or socializing on the weekends, I can usually implement subtle tweaks that make anything I wear appropriate for the occasion. I’ve always been a lover of denim, and recently, experimenting with a variety of animal prints has made getting dressed a more playful and lighthearted experience. When I stumbled upon this capri set a few months ago, I instantly thought about the versatility it could have. Whether each piece was worn together or as separates, the possibilities seemed infinite. This year, with so much energy surrounding NYC—from the NBA finals to FIFA and now the US Open—I wanted to give a nod to one of the greatest cities in the world and threw on my tried-and-true Yankee cap for some classic street-style vibes. Of course I had to balance out the casual elements, so a lace-up heeled sandal provided some elevation and juxtaposition. You can barely see it, but I also added a silver pendant to match the rest of my jewelry and completed the ensemble with a bold bag for an unexpected pop of interest. Though I will definitely miss the warm temperatures, longer days, and the sun-kissed glow, I think I’m finally ready to dive into Fall and pull out some layered outfits that require more intricate styling techniques. That said, we still have 17 more days left, and I plan to make the most of it without a jacket or boot in sight.
