As much as I love earth tones and gravitate towards them the majority of the time, there’s something about the color red that always intrigues me and finds its way into my wardrobe. Whether it be a small accent accessory or a full look, this fiery hue never fails to make a statement in one way or another. This season, as I was preparing to refresh my summer wardrobe, I stumbled across this short set and immediately had to investigate. What I loved most about it was the overall juxtaposition and balance of the pieces. While the shorts were quite mini, the waist-tie portion added some extra coverage that personally made me feel a lot more comfortable wearing them in public. Similarly with the top, though the front was slightly open, the long sleeves helped bring a more casual cool factor, which I enjoyed. Needless to say, I checked out and knew this ensemble would have its time to shine. As we all know by now, wearing a set or co-ord is essentially a “cheat code” for having your outfit nearly complete with minimal effort. That said, I still wanted to incorporate some fun accessories to keep the look interesting. Another recent purchase that I’ve been absolutely obsessed with was this newspaper-print shoulder bag. From the moment I saw it, it instantly gave me all of the vintage 90s IT-girl feels, and I had to make it mine. To ground the look, I kept it minimal with a sleek thong mule featuring a silver heel and black oversized frames with matching hardware. As my style continues to evolve, I love seeing how the legacy pieces in my closet compliment the new additions so seamlessly. I feel like my dream of having a “forever wardrobe” is coming to fruition, and the fact that I still have garments and accessories from years ago that I can pull out and blend with today’s trends shows me that I’m investing in the right things.
