It truly is the most wonderful time of the year; well, at least in my opinion. Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I am probably my happiest as soon as the holidays come around. I am all about getting into the spirit of giving and spending quality time while making lasting memories with those I cherish. So, to kick off my holiday content, I was thrilled when I was contacted for the second time by a notable brand I had the pleasure of working with in the past, Daniel Wellington. Because they are so well known for their timelessly chic watches, I was beyond excited when I was given the opportunity to participate in their holiday campaign! This season they decided to showcase their new Holiday Bundle Box which (for women) consists of the watch of your choice as well as a matching DW cuff bracelet. Though I am usually pretty basic when it comes to my accessories, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and go for the rose gold option. Now I know this may not seem like a big deal to some, but I tend to keep it simple with either traditional silver or gold pieces. Since I was feeling daring however, I chose to reflect that in my ensemble as well. I had recently been on the hunt for a cozy off the shoulder sweater so when I stumbled across this neutral oatmeal colored option, I knew it had to be mine! At this point, I wasn’t working with much and still needed to find a piece that complimented the watch so, my search continued. Luckily, it didn’t take long before I found a multicolored striped skirt that captured my attention the second I laid eyes on it. Initially I thought this piece was a bit too flashy for my taste, but then I figured, “It’s the holiday season, go for it!”– and so I did. As I looked closer, I was inspired by the variety of metallic shades incorporated in this garment and chose to do a bit of metal mixing myself. Instead of keeping with the rose gold theme, I decided to switch things up and add a pair of silver strappy sandals to the mix. In efforts to stay weather appropriate while adding another layer of interest, I also chose a cute pair of socks to wear with my heels. This is a style I’ve seen become increasingly popular over the last few years and I have quickly become a fan! I mean, with this trend there’s no need to put your Summer footwear in storage for half of the year; so what’s not to love?! I was quite pleased with how this look turned out and it definitely made me want to dive into the festivities even more! So with that being said, please feel free to use my code: ASTYLEDMIND15 for 15% off when you order on www.danielwellington.com! This order is valid through 2/28/19 so you have more than enough time to browse the site and check out some goodies for that special person in your life! Happy holidays, and until next time!

I typically put a lot of thought into my locations in efforts to make sure that they really add a level of cohesiveness to the overall photo shoot. On this particular day, I honestly wasn’t feeling my best and felt that my look was somewhat lacking. In efforts to boost my own moral and add interest to the ensemble, the first thing that came to mind was a flower stand. Ironically, in the 3 and a half years that I’ve been blogging and with 99.9% of my shoots being in NYC, I’ve somehow never managed to use this type of setting as a backdrop– but I’m sure glad I finally did! For this look, I decided to go with a color-blocking theme which was surprisingly pretty unintentional. During this shopping trip I wasn’t really sure which direction I wanted to go in so I just ended up grabbing a bunch of pieces that caught my eye and ran to the dressing room. By the time I got there, I had about 7 pairs of trousers and 2 tops. I quickly realized that this pale blue option was my favorite and kept it on as I continued to try on the pants. It actually caught me off guard when I saw this pairing in the mirror as I didn’t expect these hues to go together, but somehow (at least in my eyes) they complimented each other pretty well. At this point, I was a bit stumped on footwear options as I didn’t have anything that exactly matched either piece, and I felt like a neutral like black or white would’ve simply dulled down the entire outfit. That said, on a another spontaneous shopping expedition, I stumbled upon a pair of hot pink satin pumps and instantly fell in love! Though beyond excited about my purchase, even more so because the shoes were on sale, I was still hesitant about whether or not they would look good with my ensemble. Luckily, everything worked out and the heels provided the extra pop I was looking for without clashing with the other colors. To complete the look, I decided to add one more funky twist and threw on my tortoise shell eyeglasses. Being that animal prints can be worn as a neutral, these frames were perfect for adding another unexpected element, while still tying everything together seamlessly. By the time we were done shooting, I was definitely pleased with how this look turned out and would absolutely consider using more floral arrangements in the future! Let me know in the comments your favorite piece from this outfit and if you would’ve styled anything differently. Until next time!

DAY ONE:

It’s so crazy how even though I try to mentally prepare for New York Fashion Week, it always has a way of sneaking up on me. This season, I have to admit that I was VERY last minute in confirming events, organizing my schedule, and planning my looks– actually, I had no clue what I was wearing until the morning of (lol). One of the most challenging parts about fashion week in February, is figuring out the balance of showing off your look while still trying to remain as warm as possible. That being said, there are definitely some people that throw caution to the wind and just grin and bear it in the name of fashion; however, I am not one of those people. As this happened to be the coldest day I’d be out and about, I knew I couldn’t go wrong with layers. The foundation of my look was simple, with a thin cream colored turtleneck and my favorite pair of straight-legged denim. From there, I continued to add to the ensemble by adding a checked blazer and my white booties. As this was pretty warm toned overall, my footwear definitely helped add the bit of contrast I was looking for. Finally, I finished off the look with a vintage reversible suede and fur coat given to me by my mother, a pair of gold circle-framed sunnies, and my ring handle bag. I absolutely loved the outcome of this look and how all of the pieces complimented each other in the chicest of ways!

DAY TWO:

The next day, I was happy to see that the forecast predicted warmer temperatures; unfortunately, rain was also to be expected. While this look had less visible layers, I knew that if I styled them correctly I could get away with not wearing a coat and being fairly warm. I was actually baking at certain parts of the day, but it was definitely worth it as the night wore on. Underneath this chunky knit was a fitted tank top, as well as a thin long-sleeved bodysuit for extra insulation. I chose to pair this vibrant sweater with a multi-colored tweed skirt for an interesting mix of texture, and used leather accents with my accessories to add structure and edge. Though also planned on a whim, this look was quite the success in my book and one I would definitely sport again in the future.

DAY THREE:

My third look of the week was the hardest to come up with because the weather was horrible throughout the entire day. I played into the gloomy vibes and ended up styling a fairly dark look, however there were some statement pieces and layering that I absolutely loved (as with both of my previous looks). These 70’s style plaid trousers were love at first sight, and have continued to remain a staple in my Fall/Winter wardrobe rotation. To offset the bottom half of the look, I paired a lace top with an off-the-shoulder- white button down which gave an eye-catching illusion effect to the overall look. I then draped my suede and shearling coat across my shoulders and completed the look with black booties and my leather tote. Despite there not being any sun, there’s something about NYFW that allows you the pass to wear sunglasses in any and every scenario no matter what what the conditions are. I kind of liked taking a more lax approach to this year’s NYFW as it kept me on my toes and also allowed me to fully take in each moment as it occurred organically. I may do a few more events this season but for the most part, it’s a wrap for me until September. Until next time!

It’s so crazy how personal style evolves and grows– where at 15 you can totally hate an item and at 25 adore it. For me, cable knits and chunky sweaters (among many others) were one of those pieces I had to “grow into,” to say the least. I feel like when we’re young the idea of layers and overall warmth seem “uncool” where as now, I can’t even leave the house without being completely buttoned up. That said, cable knits have definitely become a staple in my Fall/Winter wardrobe and I’ve rounded up a few of my favorites below. With so many colors and styles to choose from it’s no wonder my collection is continuously expanding each year. Comment below an item you’ve grown to love as you’ve gotten older and don’t forget to click the  images to shop my picks. Until next time!

I’m a full supporter of stepping outside of your comfort zone when it comes to personal style and I kid you not, this look literally almost made me want to re-do my ENTIRE wardrobe. I am utterly OBSESSED with how this look came out and slightly surprised that I was able to pull it off so well. A lot of the international girls I follow rock this type of “cool girl” look. To me, it’s a style that screams “I can hang with the boys, and still be one of the most stylish girls in the room.” I’ve always admired the casual yet effortless confidence that always seems to come with this type of ensemble and it wasn’t until now that I’ve been able to try it out for myself. In all honesty, it wasn’t even my intention to style an outfit like this, it just kind of…happened. I had been wanting to style a jumpsuit on my blog for what feels like months and for some reason, I wasn’t finding anything that really sparked my interest. During my most recent shopping trip, however, my luck seemed to change. This amazing one-piece features a cut out detail, d-ring belt, and contrasting white stitching that was so unique to anything currently in my closet, I knew I had to have it. As this was obviously the showstopper of the look, I kept the surrounding items simple while still playing off of the jumpsuit’s casual edge. I’ve been loving thin knits this season especially when it comes to layering, and this nude option was the perfect addition to this outfit as well as an all around wardrobe staple. To my surprise, I was also able to find a bag that almost perfectly matched my top and helped tie all of the details together. For shoes, it was a no-brainer that I would be wearing sneakers as I couldn’t possibly see this look being as cool with any other type of footwear. That being said, I decided to rock my classic “Superstars” which seemed to perfectly describe how I felt! To finish off the look, I added a bold red lip and some rosey tinted frames for an extra pop of color. I know I say this often, but I’m going to officially go on record to say that THIS is my favorite look of 2017! I felt like this ensemble pulled out a side of my personality I didn’t know was there and it was honestly refreshing as well as exciting. It’s funny how sometimes you don’t realize how stuck in a rut you are with your style until you do something completely different. What I loved the most about this outfit was, as “out of the box” as it was, I still felt like Me. This look ignited a fire within my creativity and I definitely plan on experimenting with more outfits in the near future! I really hope you guys enjoyed this look and stay tuned for more holiday posts coming soon. Until next time!

As a style blogger, though we may often plan and hope to shoot in the most pristine conditions, there are times when that falls out of our control and we must roll with the punches. On this particular rainy day, I had to do just that and while it was not my most ideal situation, the show had to go on! Luckily, I was quite pleased with my outfits and got into my zone rather quickly, aside from a few missteps along the way. It’s no secret that Fall is my favorite season and though I love embracing the neutral warm tones this time of year brings, I never shy away from adding a bit of contrast to the mix. On a recent shopping trip I was surprised to find the top and bottom to this look rather quickly despite having no real direction. The cozy mustard knit served as a perfect Autumn staple, while the metallic skirt added an unexpected pop of interest that somehow gave the sweater a bit of excitement and luxury. In my opinion, metallic pieces can definitely serve as neutrals and of course, go-to items as we approach the holiday season. To be honest, the hardest part was trying to find a shoe that would marry these two items and keep the look cohesive. Given the time of year, I figured booties would be the best option and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the pair I found. The silver accents perfectly complimented my metallic mini and tied the look together in a way that was seasonally as well as stylistically appropriate. To further finalize this look, I added my minimal silver watch and black fringe backpack; two accessories that have solidified their places as staples in my wardrobe. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed styling this look and definitely plan to pair these pieces with other items in my wardrobe throughout the season. Let me know in the comments below if you’re a fan of Fall metallics or are more traditional, and prefer to bring them out only for special/holiday occasions. Until next time!

In my opinion, turtlenecks are one of the closet staples that have never and will never go out of style. Their different variations in fit and structure make them a universal piece that has transcended decades and will continue to live in our wardrobes for many years to come. Check out some of the sweaters I’ve rounded up below and don’t forget to click the images to shop my picks. Until next time!

I can hardly believe that this will be my final blog post of 2016. That said, of course I had to bring a bit of glitz as we quickly approach one of the biggest party night’s of the year. From the moment I saw this cold-shoulder embellished knit I knew it was definitely worthy of a photo shoot, however, I was a bit stumped with the direction I wanted to go in for this look. Because of the top’s neutral color, I had no problem finding other pieces to pair it with; it was just a matter of whether I wanted to dress it up or dress it down. After searching through the archives of my previous looks, I decided to go with something a bit more formal. Metallic pleated midi skirts have literally been EVERYWHERE this season, and though I was hesitant to jump on the trend for that reason, there was something about this skirt in particular that I couldn’t resist. For me, I think it was the fact that the material was similar to a soft suede instead of the typical rigid, foiled texture. Also, though it may be hard to see, I liked the uniqueness of the metallic accents and how they were scattered across the skirt with a marbled effect, rather than the usual opaque coated style. Overall, I loved how these 2 pieces complimented each other and to keep them as the focal point, I chose black accessories to let them shine. I am super excited to see what 2017 has in store and can’t wait to show you guys some of the ideas I’ve been working on. I hope everyone has a fun and safe NYE. See you next year! 🙂

We have seen the lace-up trend take the fashion world by storm since spring/summer 2015. It was first introduced in the form of bodysuits, but has since expanded into other pieces including dresses, trousers, and a popular favorite, sweaters. Like most, I was quite a fan of this trend and appreciated the extra edginess it gave many otherwise traditional garments that we already know and love. This sweater in particular incorporated a few other trends that made it a “must-have” for me, including the high-low hem, super soft fuzzy texture, and mauve hue. To keep the sweater as the focal point of this look but still add a bit of interest, I decided to pair the top with my vegan leather biker trousers that have remained a fall staple in my wardrobe for about 4 seasons now (sadly, I may have to replace them soon 🙁 ). I decided to keep the rest of my accessories minimal with a solid black choker necklace and my single strap heeled sandals. In order to lighten up the color scheme and balance out all of the black, I decided to throw on an over-sized vintage denim jacket which gave the look a cool, effortless feel. As I’ve stated a million times before, I love allowing my garments to speak for themselves and play up the eye-catching details that make them unique. This is definitely a look that I will be rocking in many different variations this season whether with boots, sneakers, jeans or a trench. That’s the fun part about fashion, the options are endless! Until next time!
