DAY ONE:

It’s so crazy how even though I try to mentally prepare for New York Fashion Week, it always has a way of sneaking up on me. This season, I have to admit that I was VERY last minute in confirming events, organizing my schedule, and planning my looks– actually, I had no clue what I was wearing until the morning of (lol). One of the most challenging parts about fashion week in February, is figuring out the balance of showing off your look while still trying to remain as warm as possible. That being said, there are definitely some people that throw caution to the wind and just grin and bear it in the name of fashion; however, I am not one of those people. As this happened to be the coldest day I’d be out and about, I knew I couldn’t go wrong with layers. The foundation of my look was simple, with a thin cream colored turtleneck and my favorite pair of straight-legged denim. From there, I continued to add to the ensemble by adding a checked blazer and my white booties. As this was pretty warm toned overall, my footwear definitely helped add the bit of contrast I was looking for. Finally, I finished off the look with a vintage reversible suede and fur coat given to me by my mother, a pair of gold circle-framed sunnies, and my ring handle bag. I absolutely loved the outcome of this look and how all of the pieces complimented each other in the chicest of ways!

DAY TWO:

The next day, I was happy to see that the forecast predicted warmer temperatures; unfortunately, rain was also to be expected. While this look had less visible layers, I knew that if I styled them correctly I could get away with not wearing a coat and being fairly warm. I was actually baking at certain parts of the day, but it was definitely worth it as the night wore on. Underneath this chunky knit was a fitted tank top, as well as a thin long-sleeved bodysuit for extra insulation. I chose to pair this vibrant sweater with a multi-colored tweed skirt for an interesting mix of texture, and used leather accents with my accessories to add structure and edge. Though also planned on a whim, this look was quite the success in my book and one I would definitely sport again in the future.

DAY THREE:

My third look of the week was the hardest to come up with because the weather was horrible throughout the entire day. I played into the gloomy vibes and ended up styling a fairly dark look, however there were some statement pieces and layering that I absolutely loved (as with both of my previous looks). These 70’s style plaid trousers were love at first sight, and have continued to remain a staple in my Fall/Winter wardrobe rotation. To offset the bottom half of the look, I paired a lace top with an off-the-shoulder- white button down which gave an eye-catching illusion effect to the overall look. I then draped my suede and shearling coat across my shoulders and completed the look with black booties and my leather tote. Despite there not being any sun, there’s something about NYFW that allows you the pass to wear sunglasses in any and every scenario no matter what what the conditions are. I kind of liked taking a more lax approach to this year’s NYFW as it kept me on my toes and also allowed me to fully take in each moment as it occurred organically. I may do a few more events this season but for the most part, it’s a wrap for me until September. Until next time!

I love this look because it’s a true representation of how I intend my 2018 to be: bold, bright, and all about business (with a little bit of fun sprinkled in of course, lol). This was an extremely fitting outfit to kick off the New Year as I actually did wear this on January 1st to a social event I attended. As I get older, I’m definitely learning to appreciate the value of a classic suit. In my opinion, it provides a sense of empowerment and sophistication that I don’t seem to find with any other pieces. I feel like in the past, suits were always associated with people who were boring or “stiff,” but lately I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the playfulness of the more non-traditional coordinates that experiment with various colors, textures, and patterns. Due to the harsh weather conditions we’ve been experiencing in NYC, I didn’t see myself doing that much for New Year’s weekend. That being said, I still wanted to secure a few looks just in case and this metallic number ended up being the perfect option! As we know, the holiday season is all about the glitz and though I wanted to be appropriately festive and stand out just as much, I wasn’t in the mood to freeze in a skimpy dress that I would probably never wear again. Though I opted to go the more “tailored” route in this silver ensemble, I still felt as though my look was sophisticated, chic, and eye-catching to say the least. Because the suit itself was clearly the “showstopper,” I decided to keep it simple with black accessories. I found an old leather cami which served as a modest and minimal layering piece for underneath my blazer and threw on the most comfortable heeled sandals I own. Its’s rare that I shoot looks with bags these days, but I couldn’t pass on the opportunity to showcase my new clutch which also doubles as a lipstick case and was definitely one of my favorite Christmas gifts this year! Lastly, for a final touch of glam, I added a pair of black and silver chandelier earrings which tied all the elements of this look together beautifully. Recently I’ve become more fond  of these boss-like looks, and definitely plan to incorporate more of them into my style in 2018. Here’s to an amazing year of great health, style, and success; until next time!

The holiday season is by far one of my favorite times of year, and though my excitement never ceases to dwindle, there are a few things that I tend to find a bit repetitive. Aside from the decorations, music, and events, I sometimes wish there were new style trends to experiment with aside from the typical, metallic, sequins, fur, etc. This year, I decided to make a conscious effort to try out some new things with my holiday looks and so far I feel like I’m off to a great start! While making a point not to stray too far from the festive sparkle, I was thrilled when I found this pair of trousers. The rosey hue added a uniqueness that in my opinion was even more eye-catching than the traditional silver or gold; and I loved it! With each look I style for my blog, it’s rare that there isn’t a point of slight difficulty; and in this case, it was deciding on a top. Because I had my mind set on not creating a look that was blatantly “obvious,” it took me awhile to find a piece that was formal enough while still being a bit unexpected. After going back and forth with two drastically different tops, I made the executive decision to layer them and, “VOILA;” the look came to life! I think the juxtaposition of the lace turtleneck and distressed graphic t-shirt made for the most amazing contrast that somehow meshed seamlessly without disrupting the sleek tailoring of the bottoms. Also because of the blend of casual and classic elements, this is a look that can easily be worn in a variety of settings and stand out amongst the crowd! With so many textures going on, I chose to keep my footwear minimal with a pair of black heeled sandals; and though I didn’t grab a bag, I decided to wear my silver geometric earrings for an extra pop of glitz. This ensemble totally gave me “rock&roll-chic” vibes, and I loved how it turned out.  Comment below if you prefer to keep it traditional or mix it up with your annual holiday looks. Stay tuned for more festive outfits to come, until next time!

I’ve always admired the chicness that comes with styling a monochrome look, however up until this point I haven’t had the best luck pulling it off or finding a color that would be fitting for my style. That being said, after a bit of intense retail therapy, everything seemed to “Fall” into place. During this time of year, dark tones such as burgundy, wine, cranberry, and maroon annually leave a lasting impression among retailers everywhere so it wasn’t particularly hard to find pieces that would work for this ensemble. The first item I fell in love with were these coated denim trousers that honestly fit like a dream! I’m a huge fan of mixing textures within my looks so it was no surprise that I was instantly drawn to these pants and definitely plan to get my full wear out of them over the next few months. At this point I was beginning to think about forfeiting my original idea and just style a look that tailored more towards color-blocking, and then I saw it. This mock-neck sweater literally matched my jeans perfectly and created a timeless silhouette that pulled this look together in the most effortless way. While I could’ve continued with matching accessories, I wouldn’t be true to myself if there wasn’t at least a little bit of contrast. For shoes, I decided on a pair of nude suede pumps that in my opinion really made the rich color of the overall outfit pop. Though I didn’t choose a layer of outerwear to style, I grabbed an old scarf and used it as a shawl for an extra bit of dimension. I finished off the look with my favorite ombre aviators and was ready to go! This look came together better than I had anticipated and will definitely remain a trend that I will be revisiting in the future. Comment your thoughts on monochrome and Autumnal looks, and don’t forget to share this post if you’d like. Until next time!

Nothing screams “Fall fashion” like neutral tones and animal prints, so I absolutely couldn’t resist creating a look that gave my personal take on these trends. I also wanted to use this as an opportunity to style my new leather watch band from Daniel Wellington. Upon seeing this stunning accessory on their website, I knew it would make for the perfect arm candy this Autumn/Winter season. Initially I was aiming to create a rather monochrome look, which I feel like I somewhat achieved but with a bit of a twist. The next piece that really helped curate this look for me, were these amazing pumpkin colored culottes. The silver ring zipper detail on them perfectly highlighted the watch and meshed effortlessly. From there, I had a bit of difficulty choosing a shoe but in the end decided on a pair of brown mules which couldn’t have been more perfect for this casual yet chic look. To tie up the bottom half of the outfit, I stumbled across this leopard print clutch which I received as a gift from another purchase and had totally forgot about! This bag allowed me to fuse all of the warm tones I currently had paired together without having any of the pieces clash. In efforts break up the warmth as  Fall annually does, I added a white button down to the mix to give the look a more classic element while still emphasizing the stark face of the time piece. At this point, all there was left to do was  grab my trench coat and head out the door! This ensemble really got me excited for all of the Autumn looks I plan to style this year, so if you have anything in particular you’d like to see leave a comment below! Lastly if you liked the watch that I styled, there will be bundle deals from 11/1-12/31 in addition to my personal 15% off code: ASTYLEDMIND that can be used on Danielwellington.com. Happy shopping!

Though I’m typically not the biggest fan of over-exposed trends in regards to specific looks or individual pieces, I don’t mind making an exception if I feel like I can add my own twist and make the look representative of my personal style. That being said the sports-luxe trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon and these contrast side panel trousers, which in my opinion are one of the most popular items for this particular style, can be found almost EVERYWHERE. Though I did like them, I was hesitant to get the typical wide-legged version with buttons down the sides because I felt that they were a bit too casual and would go out of style a lot sooner. Luckily, after a bit of patience and research, I came across a more tailored option that I felt could be worn in more versatile settings in addition to just being trendy. I’m so happy I waited because I found that these pants serve as a great alternative for work as well as play. I also tend to prefer the option of dressing a more sophisticated garment down, than trying to dress up a casual piece—it just seems easier to me. In efforts to give my bottoms that “cool girl edge,” I found a slogan tee that could convey my playful vibe. Though I could’ve opted to go a more upscale route, I wanted to keep the look fairly effortless and carefree. Another ongoing trend from last year that seems to be taking the fashion world by storm is adding pops of bold colors. Red accessories have appeared to be the most prevalent and though I was initially leaning towards a pair of booties, these patent kitten-heel sling backs provided the perfect classic feminine touch that were unlike any pair of heels I currently own. Given the cooler temperatures that have started to become more consistent recently, it was a no-brainer for me to reach for my cropped leather jacket as an added layer. Finally, though the day was a bit gloomy, I added my round white sunnies to complete this look. I was definitely pleased with how this ensemble turned out despite being an extremely popular street-style look at the moment. While I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself and avid follower of trends, I don’t shy away from looks especially if I feel like they fit in with my wardrobe aesthetic. Let me know in the comments below if you don’t mind experimenting with popular trends, or if you ultimately choose to stay away from them. Until next time!

As a huge lover of Fall, I am beyond ready for all of the cute seasonal activities, new drink options, and of course the fashion! From the moment I laid eyes on these forest green trousers, I was instantly sold and knew they would be extremely fitting for an Autumn look. What drew me to them aside from the color, was the paper bag style waist that is surprisingly unlike anything I currently own. This style of pant is perfect for creating a cinched waistline and giving a more tailored vibe to any look. Though I usually tend to lean towards the contrast of pairing formal and casual pieces, I decided to keep the outfit on the sophisticated side. Have you ever seen an item in a storefront window and walked past it numerous times and right before leaving you realize you HAVE to have it?? Well, that was basically the story behind this top. I’ve been seeing the one-shoulder trend a lot lately and though I didn’t initially think it would be something I would like or find flattering, this blouse completely changed my mind! Additionally, I thought the exposed arm detail really made this a unique piece that added a bit of unexpected interest to the entire ensemble. To offset the darkness of the trousers, I chose a pair of white pumps to keep the look balanced and fun. As a final accessory, I chose to wear my new Daniel Wellington watch which I felt added the perfect touch to complete this look. I love this piece because of its classic, minimal design that makes styling effortless. Honestly, after working at a watch store for 3 years, I really haven’t been reaching for my collection. That being said, this DW piece definitely makes me want to dabble back into it and see what other pieces of arm candy I forgot I had! Until next time!!

Getting dressed during the Summer can easily become repetitive and boring; I mean, how many dresses and tank-top/short combos can one wear?? That being said, there are ways to keep your outfits fresh and fun and it all boils down to FABRIC. Choosing items made of lightweight, breathable fabrics can allow you to play around with your style and even do some minor layering without overheating. For this particular look, I chose to build around these amazing high-waisted striped culotte trousers. Culottes are a great option for the warmer months because their loose fitting construction can keep you cool while still looking chic. Another bonus in regards to these trousers is that they are made of a light linen fabric which keeps the air circulating throughout the garment. I chose to keep my top neutral and show a bit of skin with a bardot style crop top. Because this piece is made of a thin knit material, I was able to comfortably brave the heat despite the fact that it is more form fitting. Being that my color palette was fairly neutral, I thought it would be nice to add a pop of color with my powder blue heeled sandals. Bright colors are pretty much a staple during this time of year so I thought these strappy shoes added an unexpected, yet eye-catching  touch. Lastly, no Summer look is complete without a pair of sunnies and I was thrilled to be able to incorporate one my latest purchases. I’m definitely an aviator girl when it comes to sunglasses and these gorgeous ombre frames were right up my alley! Remember, just because it’s hot doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy experimenting with your style. Stay cool, and until next time!
