I’ll be honest, spring isn’t my favorite season; the inconsistent temperatures, allergies, and rain make it nearly impossible to figure out how to prepare for each day. That said, every now and then I’ll awaken to a beautifully mild day where the sun is shining, flowers have bloomed, and I’m instantly reminded that summer isn’t too far away. I’ve tried to remain consistent when it comes to my shopping habits, while making sure that I’m only adding pieces that I absolutely love and/or fill a void in my wardrobe. Funnel-neck jackets, and specifically wind-breakers, have been trending for quite some time on the runways, so naturally they have trickled down to the high-street retailers. I wasn’t initially moved by all of the hype, but it didn’t take long before I finally found an option that suited my style and was worth a try. This pale blueish-grey design was perfect, as I naturally gravitate towards cooler tones, and it was also versatile enough to somewhat work as a neutral. In the same order, I had also stumbled across this plaid wrap skirt, and the tones, though rather unassuming, appeared to coordinate with my outerwear seamlessly. In efforts to ground the outfit and add some balance, since both of my garments were a fairly light color palette, I opted for a rich brown peep-toe heel and a dark tortoise pair of sunglasses featuring a slightly tinted blue lens. In my opinion, this marriage of items couldn’t have been any better! To complete the ensemble, I grabbed a distressed shoulder bag with undertones of tan, grey, and brown; the final piece of this stylish puzzle. Silver jewelry was the obvious choice to match the hardware throughout the look, and I couldn’t have been more satisfied. This outfit felt functional, modern, chic, and cool—which, quite frankly, is always the goal. Comment below with your favorite featured item, and until next time!
